Does anyone do much anymore?
Back to work for me today and countless others. But NYE not as popular as it once was.

“Amateur hour” - Dean Martin.

Wild horses wouldn’t get me out the door for that twàtfest.

Early night up next morning for Reading trip, so no risk with alcohol.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Used to go out for it, either on the piss or for a meal - used to be chaotic but it got less so when I stopped doing it about 3 or 4 years ago. It’s certainly not as popular as it was.

Personally we get a takeaway, a bottle or two of wine, and watch tv or films all night. Watch the New Years fireworks on the Beeb and then go to bed. Rock and roll!

Is it that all the posters in this thread are 40 plus?

Used to love NYE when I was younger as others have said I'd never leave the house now.

Mid afternoon grub in mid Wales with some family, may well go to an area some of the family visited a few years back. Hundred House pub, best check it's still open 😂 Early ish night, mini bus to Reading from a well known pub, can't believe there's five mini buses going all paid up. I bet a few seats will be spare after NYE. And a few not made it to bed at all, sniff 😂🥒

If it wasn't for the footy I would stop in NYE, overpriced as if it isn't expensive enough on any day. Used to go to the races new year's Day with family at Cheltenham. All money, back to work after that, Munchen. Three games in just over a week. Happy with that.

All changed on NYE 1999, clubs were charging stupid money for tickets, and even pubs were trying to cash in on the millennium, by charging people a couple of pounds, just to get in their local. Many people decided to have a house party instead with family and friends and not be ripped off, and many people have stuck with that tradition.

It is, apparently, £40 to get in some of the places near here....but you do get a free drink...

I'm off to Dubai on NYD to start my 60th birthday celebrations, so another quiet night in watching Poirot on NYE for me.

Life is just too exciting.

Exactly what I was about to post.

In 99 I paid £10 to get into a pub, and that was the cheap option where I lived.

Spoke to people afterwards who had parties at home with family and friends who said they had a brilliant time and would do the same again. Prior to that it was unthinkable for me not to go out on NYE.

Pubs and clubs killed their golden goose that night.
