The really iconic kit was on show for our next Home Championship trip to Wembley. I was up there in ‘77 and again in ‘79, Killy. It’s frightening to think how fast the years are flying by...

Coleman's commentary reminds me of my youth.

Fantastic. Thanks for posting. I was at that game.
Lived in North Wales at the time and was allowed to travel back on the mail train to Bangor arriving at about 5 am. Travelling all the way in a truck full of sacks of mail! After missing the last normal train.
No way would be allowed to do that today!

Not a chance, mate. Looking back the ‘70s was a different world entirely. Certainly we all have more ‘stuff’ now, in material terms there is no comparison, but it seems to me at least that a lot of the things that held real value have been lost along the way.

Rose-tinted glasses? Possibly, but I don’t think so.

Yes would have been a 50 pager and a poll for sure.

Went to that game, was disappointed at the end after their late equalizer.

Ah sportsnight.
I ll never forget when one of the British teams played Juventus in the 80s and there was a Polish player who played for Juve called Zbigneiw Boniek and on the highlights (which were shown on sportsnight) all you could here throughout the highlights was some Northern fellow shouting "Boniek ya bastard " over and over . * Disclaimer. It might have a different game. Possibly an international game.
