Anyone remember the Green Meadow Pub? 20:27 - Jan 21 with 3806 viewsdickythorpe

There was an article in the Post about building we were glad to see the back of in our City.
It mentioned the pub was in March Street. Where was that?

Edit. Bloody typo it was in the paper. It was Marsh Street and in Aberavon!!! FFS editors!

Good old pub was The Green Meadow, I played pool against them a few times down there at pool, and had the odd night out there too.

It was in old Aberavon.
Many years ago when I was younger I had a call on a Saturday afternoon from a cousin asking if I’d like to go on a short notice “stag do” as his sister had decided to get married. He gave me an hours notice! We started out in the Green Meadow, followed by the Craddock, the Burgess, Vivian Park and we ended up at “The Clipper” down on Aberavon Beach. Hell of a night. Saw a side of town I’d not seen before!

My memory of that era is fading fast. Was it on Cwmavan Square? I remember the notorious Hong Kong Inn there. Was it the Viv on the other side of the square?
I also remember the Welcome to Town at the bottom of Pentylla, that was were our school rugby teams ended up after matches on a Saturday morning

The only one left now is the Burgess.

"And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts. And I looked, and behold a pale horse, and his name that sat on him was Death, and hell followed with him."

Port Talbot has had some tidy bands play there over the years, The Bier Keller has a few here and the Troubador had quite a few decent bands playthere back in the day. For those who like music of a different genre, back in the day Tom Jones played at the Lido and I am pretty sure that Elton John played at Mariam Park.

Tom Jones played there more than once.

The first time in 1966.

I was talking to my mate Keith from The Karrots at the weekend and we were saying what a great music venue The Troubadour could be today.
