Rational.

ps while you've got the dictionary out, look up "advisory". Oh aye - and "ellipsis".

Authoritarian was the word I was thinking of, but whatever floats your boat.

Yes and isn’t it generally good form to write “ps” in capitals?

I take it that bloke is one of Farage's cronies...you know, those that shorted the pound.

“Black” Wednesday? Clearly another example of pseudo racism if I ever saw one.

I bet he comes across really patronising to any leavers. His pinned tweet about the EU institutions is pretty much on the button though. I've spent a bit of time over there and he's right - although he misses out a layer of consultation with the Committee of the Regions (local & regional government representation that acts as consultee on proposed EU legislation).

Wales has 3 representatives on the CoR - including Rob Stewart (he sits on COTER (Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy) and NAT (Commission for Natural Resources) panels). Mick Antoniw AM (Lab) and Bethan Sayed AM (Plaid) are also on it.

Sorry for the dull post!

I was going to post a link to the Sister Sledge re-release - We are Family, love in a femidom - but apparently it didn't exist. Which is weird because I'm sure it did.

Black Wednesday was a brilliant thing for the country according to the free marketeers.. The start of the Clarke/Brown record run of growth..

We've never had it so good. The weather and the Music was better too.

Allow me one quote, if you’d be so kind. Something for you to ponder.

Grow a pair, Marty. Get up off your knees and start acting like a man then I wouldn’t have to goad you at all. Call me rotten under your own name and I’ll give you an up-arrow and crack a bottle to celebrate.

Yep, Gordon Brown built on the solid foundations laid down by Ken Clarke.

We should all pay more attention to Ken Clarke, he talks a,lot of sense. A very rare commodity in politics these days.

One of the few heavyweights left in the Commons. Sat on the same table as him at a cricket function years ago - lovely bloke who knows his cricket, football and jazz (these things are important).

I’d bite your hand off for Ken leading a genuine centre party right now.

John Crace in today’s Guardian -

As so often, May was given a helping hand by the Labour leader. He and the prime minister are locked in a symbiotic death spiral; they are going to miss each other when they’re gone. Even if no one else will. Corbyn’s main failing is that his memory is almost as bad as May’s. He had a vague inkling that she had missed countless previous deadlines and that time was running out, but he just couldn’t remember the details precisely sufficiently to pin her down.

And of course the Tories choosing Howard, Hague and IDS as leader, instead of Clarke helped keep him as PM

Thanks - perhaps the Dim Duo on here could tell us exactly how it’s possible for us to get better trade deals as a nation of 60 million than a trading block of 500 million.

Loved the bit about about Corbyn’s ex saying he never read books...sadly, all too believable.
