Does this provide a way forward? We'd have to select people based on who they are, what they have achieved and what they believe in rather than the stale two party model.

I’m not championing the incoherent rage so much as recognising the cause and waiting patiently for the energy to be harnessed and properly focused.

Whatever faults they may have the Gilets Jaunes are nothing like Antifa. Can you imagine them halting a protest to pay homage to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe? With the best will in the world nobody could.

This is the working man, la France eternelle, waking up.

Exactly the blinkered nonsense that will keep Labour out of power for another generation and see more defections, including its deputy leader Tom Watson...

Meanwhile - Derek Hatton's back in the party.

Keep it up, Wolfie, the revolution is just around the corner...

Ah Thomas Watson friend an allie to Max Mosley

As long as there is £500,000 involved

You are right he could well go , he can smell it a Mile away

Rather convenient innit?

Not really. Once they declare themselves a party all the usual rules will apply. If/when they reach 36 MPs (which will probably be very soon - 3 Tories are rumoured to leave "imminently") they'll become the third largest party in the Commons and things will get serious.

Not much use to anyone if it remains at seven. Still, crack on..

In the event of a by election or general election they will have sufficient funding from Open Britain to take on the financial might of the Labour Party that an independent MP wouldn’t usually have.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

A by-election, yes. A GE, probably not - unless their number remains at seven, in which case it would be a bit pointless...

Carolyn Harris must be praying that is not the way forward.

Swansea East voted leave

She could advocate joining the euro and would still win

That’s the issue we have, plain bloody ignorance and tribalism

I hate the tories but I love supporting the most right wing tories on Brexit

The ERG tail is wagging the Tory dog and Labour is in the grip of Momentum and Unite, and will be for the foreseeable future making “change from within” virtually impossible.
Anti-Brexit Tories and centrist Labour MPs are facing deselection threats. They may well jump before they’re pushed.

A genuine centre party could potentially ‘do a Macron’. If May persists with keeping ‘no deal’ on the table and Corbyn refuses to back a second referendum it will get very interesting, very soon.
Even Tom Watson is very close to leaving, as are four Tory ministers. This could start an avalanche from the right of Labour and the left of the Tories.

Plenty of big businesses waiting to back this if momentum (small m) develops.

It would be great, people have had their ‘fun’ it’s time to have a Government and opposition again

Ah the Tory lite .The magnificent 7 giants of the political spectrum.

Backed by secret millionaires and led by Chuckling Chukka the very man that labelled working class as “Trash “

Great first interview by one , I forget her name now ,talking about black people and people of a “funny tinge “ live on the BBC ,by no means a great feat .

Good luck to them and their merry band .
There will be No by elections they muttered .

😀

Which is a bit of a surprise considering 5 are from staunch remain constituencies. When Carswell crossed the floor from Tory to UKIP he had no problem taking his gammons and gammonettes with him. Are Labour voters likely to be more loyal and not move parties on the Brexit issue alone?

They’d have called it if they were confident of winning.

They’ll move to marginal seats most probably.

Lone voices are all very well but if you want to achieve anything in politics you have to have the apparatus, the machinery with which to effect change. It’s as simple as that.

For what it’s worth though I think personally that the days of ‘Parties, ’ denotive as they are of sectional, sectarian interest, have had their day across Europe and are set to be swept away by broad-based National ‘Movements.’ It’s already starting, you’re witnessing the beginning right now. The May elections are going to deliver a thunderclap.
