You're absolutely correct - they should double their pay immediately. Then perhaps the job would attract competent, intelligent people instead of the incompetents we have now. I don't know why anyone would want to be an MP. They get abuse from everyone.

An MPs salary whilst seemingly attractive to the average person is peanuts for the brightest and best.

We need to cut the number of MPs to about 250, and triple or more the salary.

Also to solve the looming demographic pension crisis, MPs pensions should be made strictly DC.

It’s not just the salary with lots of MP’s though, they clam a lot on expenses and some employ family members in their constituency offices. Let’s not forget that some have second jobs, Boris gets a shed load of cash from his Daily Telegraph articles, he also picked up some tidy wedge (as did David Davis) for doing a gig a JCB a few months ago.

The current shower though are some of the worst I can remember.
