Game on!

Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

As a neutral, that was worth a watch to be fair.
Not sure about the pen, but that's the refs call.

Disregard the fact he's one of the most senior referees in Europe, people on a forum for a mid table side in the English second tier know better.

The defender makes him check var though by turning his back. I never played to a high standard but it’s defending 101, never turn your back

Didn't see that coming. It's the sort of game that reminds you that football is a great sport. Paris fans must be shocked and gutted.

That’s the bit I’m finding amusing, especially from the thick pundits like Rio, turning your back doesn’t mean you can get away with handling the ball. Definite penalty. The ball was handled in the air in the box by a stupid defender who turned his back.

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Also a penalty in my book as well. The PSG guy has his arm flapping around aimlessly in the box, as he turns his back to the ball. Unlucky for PSG, but blindingly stupid by the PSG player.

Nowhere near as good as our win in Valencia.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Interesting that the 3 pundits (ex footballers) in the BT studio didn't think it was a penalty. Rio, in particular, was quite scathing - he said that the law makers (IFAB?) need ex-footballers on their board, to understand better how you can't have your arms at your side or behind your back when you're trying to maintain balance. I wonder how many of the law makers and current refs have played football to any standard.

In fairness, put it into context, Valencia were in total disarray when we had a superb win, in a group game

United were 2 down at home after the first leg, go to Paris and score three, surely people can't be churlish enough to appreciate a great win

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Not even close to the best Man U performance in Europe in your life time.

That was substantially better than getting gubbed by Bayern for 85 minutes and scabbing 2 goals at the end

Never turn your back or stick your arms out. Neil Taylor did the same thing at Anfield once. It was a penalty then too.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Rio is one of many ex-pros who seem to specialise in silly opinions as a pundit, albeit not to the same extent as Collymore or Sutton. Have a look at some of the stuff he says, he talks utter nonsense. It's come to something when Savage is one of the more sensible pundits these days.

Anyway, you have to love the result because it's made Neymar throw his toys out of the pram and who doesn't love seeing that prick have a tantrum?

Sensational result for United and what a way to do it.

Definite penalty. Jumped up, turned his back with arms out. Not in doubt. Well done officials.

It wasn't just Rio though. Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves didn't think it was a pen either. And Lineker spouted his usual nonsense that "if the ball hits an arm it should be a pen".

It's one of those that is going to split opinion. If it was the Swans instead of Man U, we'd all be baying for a penalty. If it was one of our players, we'd be howling at the injustice.

The rules of football change though and despite what the ex-pros think (not that they know the rules anyway, look at all the ex-pros who said Kane's penalty against Arsenal was the wrong decision), that is going to be a penalty from now on.

If a player has their arm in an unnatural position (although that is open to interpretation), it's a penalty. Lots of players in the past have done this deliberately to increase their chances of blocking a shot and VAR is going to punish them for it until they learn to stop doing it. Is that a good idea? I don't know yet, but that's the way it's going to be for now.

I’ve just seen the penalty incident.

Did it prevent the ball moving towards the goal? Yes

Was it on target? Don’t know

Was it hand to ball or ball to hand? The latter. If this is still a consideration with hand ball decisions then it’s not a pen. All imo of course.

It’s not really. It’s not the club itself, it’s what they represent. Same goes for Liverpool and to a lesser extent Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

I’d always want any of those teams to beat Cardiff of course, but I’ve got far more respect for a Cardiff fan from Cardiff than the likes of Dwight.

That's the problem though, isn't it. Players are almost never "natural silhouettes". You don't see players moving around with their arms at their sides. You don't jump to head the ball with your arms at your sides. Personally, I don't like the way this is going. We're just going to see more cheap penalties ruining games. IMHO, of course.
