Not really. Not really had a chance, last season took a battering in early game vs Millwall, broken nose and ribs from memory. We needed to get ball into box for him something we weren't doing. Similar to Gestede back in the day, Blackburn played to his strengths and h got 20 goals.
Cornelius was a spectacularly bad player - Mackay touted him as going to score goals that would keep us up, gave him no 9 shirt... only to then say he was "one for the future" weeks later.
We've still got fans who claim he's a good player, played for Denmark and in CL... scores goals in Denmark, sure. Overwhelmingly used as sub by Atalanta, barely scored. Loaned to Bordeaux where he's scored 3 in 20 league games.
Shame because you look at him and he could be a prototype center forward but he looks like he doesn't have the mental instinct about playing that role. | | | |

Forwards need the right formation and the ball played to them in a way that suits them, otherwise they can be made to look spectacularly bad.
Gomis with the right set up and service scores goals, with the wrong service he looks like a donkey who is always offside.

Cornelius made 8 league apperances for us. A total of 105 minutes.
And thats coming off a bad injury.
He was made a scapegoat to attack Mackay, nothing more imo [Post edited 29 Mar 2019 13:16]

I once saw him train. Other players were having to point him around the training pitch continually.
Mackay deserved to be attacked. It was a ridiculous transfer and Mackay's antics made it ridiculous. It wasn't Tan who forced Mackay to claim he'd score the goals to keep us up It wasn't Tan who forced Mackay to then later say he was "one for the future" - one for the future at a £10m transfer fee with a 45k per week wage, by far the highest paid player we had.
Look at Cornelius' record ever since. Copenhagen sold him to Atalanta - for £3.5m. He;s done nothing of note whatsoever there, permanent sub. They've even loaned him out to the French league, not a great one defensively and he's done FA.
It's a shame as from a physical perspective, he fits the bill for playing a dominant center forward role. He doesn't seem to have the mental aspects to do so. | | | |
