The sad thing is there are a good few genuine homeless who through no fault of their own find themselves out on the streets. There are youngsters that have had an appalling start in life because of appalling parents, victims of unloving dysfunctional family, there are victims of benefit sanction(s), victims of economic circumstance like loss of home, bankruptcy, vulnerable mentally ill etc.
There are quite a few ex-armed forces also, there are many GENUINE cases, ex-SAS Major Ken Hames was brought to tears by what he saw.
Then there is the other side! The despicable lowlifes that go home to a house, flat, professional beggars that drive or are driven to their hangouts by car. Even The Big Issue is now under threat because of professional Gangmaster-facilitated East European (well pretend) homeless who will be the death of that magazine. |  |

Predominently a white problem too. Very rarely do you see many who come from other ethnic backgrounds. Why is this? Cultural thing where they look after their own maybe? Family etc?
What i have noticed and follows on from Wingstands point is the amount of Eastern Euros (Romanian etc) now take up the spots across large areas of London. Most in decent trainers etc. In the 15 years i have been here, they have usually been British, but that is changing. What the answer is i have no idea. |  |

We've had an influx of tents in Cardiff after Newport moved them on.
What people donating don't realise is that there are plenty of places in shelters for the homeless in Cardiff which enforce a strict no drink, no drugs approach. That's entirely understandable given dealing with vulnerable people. If some prefer their drink and drugs to that, well, that's their problem. |  | | |
