You're right, he's been fantastic in midfield. It makes you question what sort of professional football manager would play him at left back instead?

Ollsson injured and Declan John are our recognised left backs. He also played Grimes at centre half did pretty well there.

Playing a left sided player at LB to see how it works? Was worth trying imo, you never know until you try. But i dont think we will see him at LB again

Grimes has been exceptional - right player, right manager, right time. Like Ben Davies, success born of necessity. A very intelligent footballer. Byers? Maybe. Strikes me as less of a football brain, gets sloppy when doing well, gets down when up against it. Still young. Wasn't Woods the favourite stick to batter the Americans with? Oops!

Expensive for a bench player. He'll be on a fair wedge at Stoke as well.

Well ....firstly who fecking died and made you king...? None of your fecking business, knob head. Most people use something called the internet or even sky tv - try it - to take opportunities to watch players who nearly signed for their club. He keeps the ball. Thats all you need to know. Ryan Woods or Matt Grimes? on 07:43 - Apr 16 with 2831 views | magicdaps10 | Bit of a naive story. How can any of us judge on Ryan Woods, he could have blossomed with us, there again he might not have.......fact is, he has never worn a Swansea shirt to judge if he has been any good for us or not. Anyone taking the high ground on this article is simply a moronic idiot.

Could have done with Woods first half of season while Potter was doing his mix and match experiments. Grimes has come good with benefit of hindsight.
Ryan Woods or Matt Grimes? on 08:25 - Apr 16 with 2783 views | exiledinenglandjack | Depending what the requests are from the selling club and the player himself, I’d consider a move. He was the right man for potter last year and I believe he could be next year. Without fer we’re a little light of midfield numbers. Maric is t coming through from the 23s and as talented Kees de boer is, I think it would be too early to bring him in. A midfield of Woods holding, Grimes as the ‘transition player’ and Byers further up again would be a nice balance [Post edited 16 Apr 2019 8:25]

This is how I see it to be honest. Won't happen, but would be nice. Joe Allen looked the shadow of himself at Stoke, it's a complete basket case of a club.
Ryan Woods or Matt Grimes? on 10:28 - Apr 16 with 2642 views | Uxbridge | Nobody could look good in that Stoke midfield. He's a Leon type, pass and move, they might as well have just given Charlie Adam £7m in Greggs vouchers and hope to cover the space that way. We've no idea how things would have gone if he'd come here, and his time at Stoke is absolutely no judge in that regard. I doubt Grimes would have had the same game time though, and certainly not Byers, so there's some silver linings there. Pretty obvious Potter wanted him though.

? Bit of a strange response. You asserted that Woods and Grimes would be a similar partnership to Britton and Allen. Considering we have seen a lot of Grimes and plenty more of a Britton/Allen partnership, what makes you so sure that Woods would fit alongside Grimes in a similar positive way? Considering Woods' game time has been limited, there is actually very little coverage of him out there, so i doubt youve been able to make a evidence-based decision from "internet or sky tv". This applies to both his time at Brentford and now Stoke. Now. Educate me, peasant. Tell me why a Grimes/Woods partnership would work in the way you asserted, because the Britton/Allen combination was one of the best we have had in our lifetimes of watching the Swans. You aching simpleton.
