The Planet Swans BBQ thread 10:52 - Apr 21 with 2181 views | MrSwerve | Two in two days for me Anyone got their BBQs lit this weekend? I’m a traditionalist myself, charcoal and a bog standard bbq. Anyone use a fancy gas one? Always thought that they wouldn’t taste the same as a proper one but never used one. Do people generally have a classic burger and sausages bbq or a posher marinated meats and fish etc? Yesterday I had marinated salmon, lamb etc and today I’m changing it up with sausages burgers baps etc. Bloody love a bbq and a beer.

The Planet Swans BBQ thread on 11:42 - Apr 21 by Cooperman | Let’s hear your BBQ recipes then. Post your responses below. I’ll kick it off with the simplest of sauces. One large onion chopped and softened Add a clove of crushed garlic Two table spoons of good ketchup One tablespoon of vinegar Two tablespoons of Worcester sauce One tablespoon of brown sugar Very gentle simmer for 15 mins Serves 4 Add variations of above to taste if you prefer a sweeter option (sugar) or more tang (vinegar). |
We don't eat a lot of meat, but when we do I always make or own burgers, it's the easiest thing to do in the world. Just buy some a pound of decent quality mince, add a finely chopped onion, and then anything else you want. A teaspoon of smoked paprika, a pinch of cumin, herbs, tablespoon of BBQ sauce, pinch salt & pepper. Options include chopped garlic and/or chilli, or a handful of blueberries - that works surprisingly well; or anything else you fancy. Shape and chill for an hour before. Dead easy. They also taste a lot cleaner than shop-bought one that use various fillers and binding agents.

The Planet Swans BBQ thread on 11:26 - Apr 21 by MrSwerve | Do these gas ones actually taste like a proper bbq then? |
I've just got a gas one, first time after years with charcoal, it's much better the only problem is cleaning the griddle plate, but overall it's much better and quicker, can't really taste the difference!

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, as I was going on about Llangennith in another thread a few weeks ago.
