Aldi's 1867 lager 22:54 - Apr 24 with 2612 viewsdickythorpe

The first lager I've drunk that I've actually thought I need grub before it.
Ideal with hot chili or spicy Curry.

Plus no hangover in morning. 5%

Not tried that but the Project 1079 hopped pilsner is good as is the Innis and Gunn session IPA and the Benno craft lager. Thought the other new beers were OK but would not rush to get them again

Or even 1897 lager. I've put some in the freezer for later

I like it but I'm into my ipa's at the moment. Called in to home bargains in Caernarfon last week and bought a few (well 20 actually) different Lagunitas at 79p each to try (Daytime and 12th of Never). They're £1.79 each or 4 for £6 in Morrison's.

Heineken own Laguinita. Not bad at all.

It's imported from the USA as well rather than brewed under license over here which I like but I think you already know that.

"Daytime" bottles are 21st of June, "12th of Never" cans are 15th Sept. 4 packs of Modello especial Mexican beer are £2.99 and end of July .
We only went in for last minute Easter eggs.

The Modelo Negro is a superb beer

First drank it about 25 years ago in a Mexican restaurant in Chester. I really liked it but have struggled to find it since then. Nice to see that the Modello especial is still imported.

The Mexican Street food chain Wahaca has Modelo Negro (or did a few years back), but the last one I had was with a burger in Bogota airport.

If the software wasn’t also from 1867 I could have quoted dicky...

Hope you don’t catch a cold.

Cheers Dicko for the recommendation. Got some 1897 in Gorseinon Aldi today and it is indeed very decent. An obvious copy of Kronie 1664, and very tasty indeed.

I drunk them slowly over a period of 3 hours the other night.
I was gagging for a curry or something spicy to pair it with.
Ended up with extra mature cheese and crackers!

What the Fountain Inn like in Pontar Dallas?

Haven't eaten there since they did it up, and not drunk there since 2013, but they have had some decent reviews on Trip A. Good beer garden area. Used to go to the King Hotel more, but that has closed of course. Massive shame. Go to the Farmers Arms for any decent BT Sports Euro matches, but generally find it is full of dicks, as it always has been.

May pop up the Fountain for a pint or 2 tomorrow afternoon to see how it is. Am reading "This is Going to Hurt" by Adam Kay which will keep me entertained if it is dead. The bar in The Fountain is just too clinical for me. No dirt. No grime. No history.

It was much better back in the 1980's. Witnessed the Rebecca Riots once.

Right. A four pack of this 1867 lager has just been bunged in the fridge. Might not be until tomorrow that it's at optimum temperature. It'd better be worth the wait. :)

Aldi is reasonably priced, but the one in Llansamlet had bugger all vegetables today. I've got to go to Tesco now as the fridge is half-empty. But that's a separate thread entirely.

Tried the 1897 last night...tidy. The veg section was quite empty in the Cwmdu store yesterday...someone ballsed up I assume.

I think a lot of cafe/restaurant owners shop early and buy the fresh veg&fruit for their businesses.
Some store managers of Aldi and Lidl have cottoned on to this but some may not.
