Guess that rules out all the rust outside the stadium getting sorted any time soon then...

A bit of rust gives a stadium 'character'.

“In its defence in November 2017, Interserve argued that the claims were time barred because the claim came four days after the 12-year anniversary of the date of completion (on 31 March 2005) and applied to have the claims struck out.

In a judgement issued following a hearing in June 2018, Mrs Justice O'Farrrell ruled that SSMC could not proceed with its claim that the design and construction of the stadium were defective.”

Another embarrassing legal f**k up for the club owners. Submitted the claim 4 days too late!

The stadium needs an anti rust treatment and quick.
The place needs major works done this summer or it's gonna cost a lot more in the future

I thought Swansea City Council was stadium management responsible for maintenance as they own the stadium.

Yanks took out that lease about year and half ago?

Therefore I assume all matters such as these are now their responsibility

Not sure mate. Was hoping someone on here could give an answer. It's going to be an expensive fix that's for certain. Lots of differential corrosion going on there.

Well the failure of this claim against the council and interserve pretty much confirms that they are no longer liable for such things.

Down to the Yanks now.

Where was the surveyor’s report before the entered the lease?

So if I am reading this correctly, the club will now have to deal with and pay for any remedial works to address the corrosion of the steel and other issues. Great news, particularly as we get lots of rain and we are near the coast. Realistically speaking, the longer it’s left the more expensive it’s going to be to sort out. If the American enters want to bail out, they may not get the work done, but due diligence by the potential buyers should pick it up as an issue.

This is what I cannot understand. If these issues were not disclosed by the council prior to the lease, surely the Yanks would have been successful in this claim?

But where was the due diligence from the Yanks? Madness to agree to take on an asset that's in a state of disrepair.

Looks that way doesn't it. Potentially in a few years if nothing is done the stadium could be refused an operating license due to potential structural defects. Lot of potentials there but the point is unless it's addressed soon it's going to get a lot worse maybe ending up with the council having to foot the bill despite the Yanks holding the lease.
Up for discussion this lol

Typical of swansea city council. No maintainance on stadium in the 10 years they ran it. You would have thought the would do a check every couple of years. A bit like the fiasco of the leisure centre no maintenance in over
25 years huge back log of work they could not afford to do.

The very least you would do is get your own surveyors report done. That should have/ would have highlighted the issues.

Yes it was...it was the Council who put the money in to build the stadium, formed Stadco in partnership with the Swans and the Ospreys who in turn paid a peppercorn rent which as far as I can remember pissed of a lot of non sporting council tax paying Swansea residents.
