For you right leaning folks on 09:36 - May 12 by exiledclaseboy | In all politics then, if you want to be reductive about it. I can’t think of one single government across the world that doesn’t levy and collect taxes and use that money to fund public services. Would you advocate an alternative? No I would’ advocate an alternative, to some degree you’re correct about every government having socialist policies. But unlike other countries our entire infrastructure is built on socialism, I just think it’s reactionary to call the Conservatives ‘right wing’, when clearly it’s impossible.

For you right leaning folks on 09:38 - May 12 by waynekerr55 | Point 3 - fulfil democracy for the few who will profit in disaster? It's been found by the independent regulator to be illegal. Very democratic to plough on and destroy the country. |
Disaster? What disaster? .. and it wasn’t illegal, that was a throwaway comment in a public enquiry that Remain biased tabloids picked up on.

I ageee with you up to a point. Discussion of “right” and “left” wing is increasingly irrelevant. But you seem to be considering it purely in terms of economic policy.

Well that's bollocks (pardon my French) Point 1 - had it been a legally binding referendum, the result would have been overturned Point 2 - disaster meaning frictionless trade becoming full of friction Point 3 - the complete loss of regulations for workers Do I have concerns about the long term federal project? Absolutely. However all of the evidence points towards catastrophe in the short to middle term.

1. I can find instances of similar misdemeanours in General Elections that have not been overturned as a result. 2&3 are impossible to know unless you can read the future.

For you right leaning folks on 09:08 - May 12 by sg1912 | 1. Immigration has increased in the last ten years, obviously it's not that 'hostile'. 2. Grenfell was a due to an inept local council, the government have announced £200m funding to replace all unsafe cladding. 3. Wanting to fulfill democracy is not facist, wanting to keep voting until we reach the 'correct decision' is. |
Point two - that’s it, nail on head. Once the new cladding goes on everything is fine and dandy. What a pity those people cremated in the upper storeys of that building won’t be able to enjoy it. Grenfell was down to sheer naked greed, the need to make 5 grand more profit than ensure the safety of the people inside. The reason that you can casually gloss over this? They were mostly brown people. Those people will never receive justice either. Last I heard the fire brigade were being blamed.

Besides compensation and repairs to existing tower blocks, what more could they do? Are you suggesting this disaster could have been averted if another party was in power? .. and ethnicity is completely irrelevant to the discussion, besides the majority of people that live in these towers up and down the country are white. I think you’re conflating class and race.
