Who’s collected cockles? 20:44 - May 23 with 1899 views | longlostjack | Watching that 1900 Island programme. Cockles in a bag with vinegar from the market on a Saturday - memories. They’ve got those little plastic containers there now though - not quite the same. Anyway has anybody here actually been cockling ? Must admit I haven’t. It's all about size now. You have to throw back little ones. The Dutch have the monopoly. I'm sure that Selwyn's buys them in now to make his products. Parsons in Burry Port was sold to the Dutch after there was no money in it.

Always take a tin of Parsons laverbread back with me. Normally gets through Stansted security but have had the odd problem. Liquid or not a liquid? That is the question.

You can't. You have to be licensed and even those that are don't bother as they are all undersized and it doesn't pay.
Who’s collected cockles? on 21:33 - May 23 with 1123 views | lifelong | Picked cockles at Llanelli beach and Oxwich, you used to be able to pick a small amount for personal consumption, not sure what the law is these days.

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Backbreaking work. Why hasn't somebody come up with a girt big tractor-like amphibious contraption to hoover them up on an industrial basis?Probably for the best though as they are scarce enough as it is, delicious as they are.

I think it's 3. Prices used to be over £100 a bag years ago so it was lucrative. But I was told a bag , roughly 10 kilos was less than £20 now.

Haven’t fished the Gower for a few years now, used to enjoy fishing the tide in at Llangennith Beach, also fishing for Bass off Oxwich point. Still got my old boat at Porthclais in St David’s..love it down there.

You can. You only need a licence to pick over a certain amount. I think it's 8kg.

Not allowed. It's very strictly policed by the fisheries and much of the stock has to be left for the birds to eat. Ridiculous really, as hundreds of tonnes die every year which could have been harvested.
