Whether is good enough or even wants to play for us is one thing but a question about wages. If we can't loan him out without paying a large percentage of his wage I assume that unless he's on a large appearance bonus then not a big difference. From the (admittedly highlights package) I saw of the season before he joined us, I think he’d be a lot more suited to the way we played last season and the way Cooper is likely to play, than the football we played when he was here, which mainly involved him being bullied by centre backs. His wages are going to be a problem regardless. We’ll look to offload if we can. | | | |

Ways and means to not play without stating it upfront.
Baston's wages are one of three 'crippling' our finances. If we can't offload and he can be paid off for less than his wages he's more like to have his contract 'terminated by mutual consent'.
The thing is we have to decide by August 9th whereas the player can move to a European club up to the beginning of September.
If he's on our squad list on the 8th but leaves on the 10th we are left a player short.
If he's not on our squad list on the 8th he can' play for us.
Thanks to the tools the FA he holds all the aces.
On the other hand if he's prepared to come back and Cooper rates him the manager may make a case for keeping him (don't imagine Routs would be too pleased after his contract alterations last seasons). [Post edited 27 Jun 2019 13:43]

It seems implausible that he'll play for us again. Then again it's very much in Baston's interests for him to be in the shop window for when his contract expires. Should he play and perform well up to Xmas, then a move in the new year, with a modest fee coming our way, could suit all parties.
Perhaps it all hinges on whether or not Borja can bear the prospect of facing the Swansea weather for another six months. He’d have been shit. For his faults, Gomis was quite capable of occupying centre backs. Borja would have started eagerly, got outmuscled once or twice, then someone would have kicked him and he’d have lost heart and hidden by dropping deep.
If he’d have succeeded in any team since he’s been here it would have been last seasons IMO | | | |
