Parking a van near Llangennith/Rhosilli 16:02 - May 25 with 2292 viewsjackrmee

Right then ladies and gents...

Anyone know if there's anywhere within a mile or so of Llangennith where I can park a van? Maybe even a layby or free car park or bit of wasteland?
just checked the Hillend prices and I'm not paying £26 a night. That's crazy!

Thanks in advance you lovely buggers

How about asking the landlady of the King's Head in Llangennith?
You may be able to park in her pub car park for a small fee.
Plus the church opposite the pub.

Also just before the worms head hotel there's a church there. Have a word as they have a free car park.

Just checked now and that on by Worm's Head seems perfect.

Thanks Mr Thorpe

I love the walk down the side of the hotel to the beach. Going back up again without stopping is great for the calves and heart/lungs/fitness

Do you mean within a mile of Llangennith village or the beach/campsite?

There’s a little pull in on the left just before you go down the hill into the village. Often camper vans parked there. Bit of a trek to Hillend though.

Broughton is another option. Not sure how much they’d charge though.

No. As an ex Portmead boy, it was always "Brow-ton" Avenue.

The avenue in Portmead may be pronounced like that, the beach in Gower isn’t.

By whom?

Walk into the Kings Head and ask for directions to Brow-ton or Broar-ton and it will take them a minute to work out what you mean.

As I said, the one jacabertawe was referring to may well be pronounced differently. The one near Llangennith is Bruff-ton.

Plus with Hillend you can't take dogs and you can't book in advance.

Yeah they are a bit up themselves in Hillend. No dogs, no disposable barbecues, you can’t pick people up/drop them off without paying the £4 car park fee. I wouldn’t be rushing to give them my business.

Thanks gents.
I'll take a mosey on over there next week in the car to sniff around.

In terms of the church, donation based sounds good to me. Are there gates there then? I mean, surely there's not anyone there 24/7?
My van just looks like a van. It's not like a camper van thing. Just a rusty Iveco Daily with a bed and stuff in the back.

I have never heard it pronounced "Bruffton" or the like by anyone.
