For the music fans on here. Being a man of leisure with a few shekels to spend, one of my recent projects has been to run through the Rolling Stone magazine '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' and draw up a list of the albums I'd like to acquire (in CD form). I composed a list of 28. Some are albums I used to have on vinyl but which disappeared for one reason or another, but most are albums I only knew vaguely or didn't know at all. I've started buying 'em and being on a bit of a West Coast/ Tex Mex/ Country Fusion kick at the moment, have been blown away by Los Lobos (How Will the Wolf Survive?) and the Byrds (Sweetheart of the Rodeo). Question for Loh, do you know the latter? I think you'd like it. Note to Darren - there's one Cheap Trick album in the 500, Live at Budokan. No, it's not on my list! The list was composed in 2012. What classics have come out since then which you'd recommend, bearing in mind I veer towards blues and rock?

Not one I know. Worth a listen, then?
Edit: you've got me thinking now, back in the day I had a couple of Rory Gallagher and Taste albums too.

Rory Gallagher fan here. Saw him in the Rank a long time ago, really fantastic. Live Taste album still in my possession as a vinyl, along with other Rory albums. Have you heard the band Mountain? Their album Nantucket Sleighride is superb. Some may remember part of the title track being used for the TV programme Weekend World.

WxmJax saw Cheap Trick in The Cavern in December. He told me he couldn’t post on here how good it was because he’d lose all credibility.
I cannot lie, I was there. I remember thinking, fair do's, these are pretty good, but why so many Beatles covers ? It was only then I realised that The Cavern has TWO stages

Fond memories of radio Wales rockpile on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The presenter, Richard Rees?, would often play a bit of Rory Gallagher, top priority and philby especially. Don't believe I've ever heard it played on the radio anywhere else. Still one of my all time favourite tunes.

They only did two Beatles covers I’ve got the original set list here. Stop making things up.

Interesting list, though rather predictable at the top. Is Sgt Pepper's that good? The positive is the diversity of soul, blues, jazz, pop and rap which would not be the case for a UK produced list. Too much U2, and perhaps underselling bands like Pixies, REM, New Order and Depeche Mode who are very influential today whilst keeping the usual suspects from the 60s much higher.
That said nice to see the obscure like Liz Phair, Pavement and Wire in the list. All those are cracking indie/alternative greats.
As far as post 2012-maybe Bowie's 'Blackstar' and some of the new funk/jazz like Thundercat and Kamasi Washington are interesting at least. Nothing really grabs me though.
