The amount of money pumped into the NHS has increased every year for the last 9 years, by far more than inflation. There are no cuts in the NHS budget.
They only privatisation In the NHS occured when labour built hospital financed by PFI where private companies get a return on capital of over 10%. Labour could have borrowed the money at around 4% to build these hospitals.
That’s not the appropriate measure.
NHS spending as a proportion of GDP has fallen from 7.6% in 2009/2010 to 7.1% in 2020/21 (under current planned expenditure). To bring spending to 2010 levels, the current plan would have to be increased by £11.4bn more than announced.

The 2 graphs show exactly what’s taken place and under who. In addition, the increasing population and the increasing proportion of elderly people who are much more expensive to treat mean that the resources that are being provided are being stretched further and further.

Elderly patients and increasing population? The Age Related Macular Degeneration eye and cataract clinic at Singleton can at times be an extremely profound example of that and the incredible pressure NHS staff are under.
It has been standing room only in there at times. I witnessed a doctor doing a walk-through video last summer for the sole purpose to show his bosses just how chaotic and overfilled it can be in there at times. If there is catch up from a lost day after a bank holiday a patient sometimes has to return there again the following day to have a Lucentis injection because things are just too busy to cope.
The staff are at breaking point! There has been another (Lucentis eye injection) operation(s) room added but there is a lack of will to finance/train extra staff to go in there. My sympathies are truly with the staff and patients.

France has a single payer socialised system. It's paid for by insurance, but everyone gets cover and it's quite different from the USA model, so my point still stands.

There are many variations. You claimed there are only two systems, UK and US. That's not true...
There are always variations in any system, but fundamentally the US system is different and not popular with other countries, whereas ours is.
Indeed. You however claimed only the US have that model. In reality, there are numerous models use that underpin public sector with insurance based schemes.
So horses for courses, you could equally say we're one of very few nations going down solely public sector route.

On the subject of NHS dentistry and privatisation. Latest news in today's SWEP reporting on the current situation. Backdoor privatisation continues relentlessly.
Way too much bureaucracy, red tape and inefficiency will drag the NHS to its knees.
Sort it out.
So simple.
There is definitely a resources to demand problem going on.
I ponder the G.P services situation. There are now private G.P services available albeit in very miniscule number just like it was with private dentistry a little over 20 years ago, it started out micro-small and then increased to what seems thousand fold stuff U.K wide to become the norm for many .
I wonder if G.P service could go the same way as NHS dentistry with some doctors opting out of the NHS and going into private practice instead?
If they do I would assume the fee/charging system would be similar to private dentistry i.e. monthly charges (with varying price plans) to qualify the right for a patient to see a doctor for one, two, three or four visits a year...... With everything extra after that coming with extra flat fee charges. A flat charge for a private GP visit is around £80.

Private G.P plan here, just found it Denpan/DPAS-esque.
Friend of mine was taken ill in America recently, a 911 emergency. He ended up having quite complex surgery, the total amount to his insurance company was $750k.. It was $3k for the ambulance.
I would not want that system here for all the tea in China.

It is absolutely staggering. Even (maybe cheaper than U.S.A/abroad?) with the above link price list, in the U.K you'd still get charged (phlebotomist service) £32 just to have someone stick a needle in and take a small amount of blood out of your arm. To have that blood sample analysed (prices not available) it would be extra additional cost.

Should start charging to see a GP. Will certainly keep time wasters away.

Who’s to say what is and isn’t time wasting though? Sometimes a checkup on the most minor complaint can reveal something more sinister.
Agree with you. But all doctors are visited by the usual, odd, over weight non contributing to society wasters. It’s a fact of today’s society.
