Weird logic. If extending article 50 is an option, how is there no mandate to use it? |
How is it wierd logic?
Parliament approved the invocation of Article 50 where it was clear 29th March, no deal was default exit position. At the point the invocation was passed, there was a mandate to leave under WTO rules if no deal was reached. That's a simple fact.
What happened afterwards screwed things up - those opposing a no deal Brexit could have prevented a lot of the problems by voting against the invocation of Article 50 with the specified conditions. Instead, they voted for it then worked to undermine it. |  | |  |

Nobody voted for a no deal brexit.
Indeed 48% did not want any form if Brexit.
There is no mandate for no deal.

I know. Bt they are selected by the people we elect to do these things. Do we really want direct democracy on every decision?
We're not getting to have a say in the new PM who will be taking this country in god knows what direction. We don't get to elect the queen who can grant or withhold Royal Assent on legislation and could in theory pick the PM, we don't get to appoint people directly to the Privy Council, we don't get to appoint the Lords, we don't get to select the First Minister in the Assembly, etc., etc., etc. |  | | |
