Very good they were as well. Billy Joel the following night was better though.

Remember when Bon Jovi played the egg stadium. I was right at the front heckling them during the set - only went for Thunder and Van Halen tbh.,

Sigh... was it really that long ago...

Thunder were excellent, a really great live band. Van Halen were cool, Hagar era, Eddie sat or the most part on a stool - think he'd damaged his hip that tour.

Trying to remember the rest of the bill - think it was Cranberries and maybe one other?

Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Thunder, Crown of Thorns. The Cranberries supported REM the same summer, along with Del Amitri.

Yes, you're right. Was at REM gig too. Can remember Cranberries playing there, thought they'd be an odd choice for Bon Jovi.

The REM one? Yeah me too. Del Amitri were the highlight. REM were deathly boring.

Well, yeah not sure why I expected anything else.

Best gig I was at ( and it's been a long time since I've been to one ) was Wildhearts at Cardiff Uni. Fvcking amazing band.

EDIT: Worst gig probably David Lee Roth at what is now motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. Lounge lizard / crooner era, after Vai and without Jason Becker due to ALS so the Lil Ain't Enough tour. His voice was fvcked then and that had to be what 91? Without the pyrotechnic skills of Vai ( and to leser extent Becker ) is was like elevator music. ound quality was crap too.

Not their best I agree

A great band in a small venue though

I don't remember Del Amitri at all but it was a long time ago.

Mrs G was expecting our 1st and he's now a strapping 24 year old!

I saw The Wildhearts supporting the Manics once. Early days, possibly the Generation Terrorists tour so 1992ish.

In that case the support band were far better...

Manics, Stereophonic for me are so vastly overrated it's unbelievable.

Yes well we can just add that to the list of things you’re wrong about. Although the Stereophonics haven’t been worth listening to since Performance and Cocktails. I do remember the Wildhearts being very good though.

Ha, can't be wrong, music is subjective.

Manics for me just struck me as 6th form politics. Wife forced me to watch that documentary they did of going to Cuba,I collapsed in hysterics at Wire's comment "Well there are human rights abuses but we don't really want to talk about them".

Great rock music ain't about polemics, trying to change the world, fvck that. It's about rocking out...
