It would be wrong to automatically assume that the undisclosed fee translates into us being shafted on this deal. Two points to be mindful of here, 1. We’ve got a commercially sharp Birch calling the shots these days rather than the old regime who would have rolled over without any protest whatsoever, 2. Palace are cash rich following the sale of W-B to Man Utd and again I’m sure that Birch will have played on this. I am more confident about our transfer dealings these days than I have been at any point in the last five years and this applies to both incoming and outgoing moves.
