Yanks don't seem so bad. 19:27 - Jul 25 with 10360 viewsjackrmee

Cue the down arrows and hate haha.

Reason I say this is because of the Birch appointment, the way they've given him almost total control to enable him to build a, quite frankly, highly exciting backroom team and potential for our club.

OK, player signings have been slow and last years clearout was harsh, but it really seems like we are moving forward now.

I am extremely happy with the non playing staff we have acquired this year and although we are only looking at loans or free transfers in this transfer window, these non players are definitely not free or cheap. They are a mix of young and hungry, and experienced and knowledgeable.

We are most definitely moving forward.

The words of our new head of recruitment shows that he is looking to be here for a while to come and I think he may just be the dogs bollocks (even though I didn't really know his background before).

It's only taken them the best part of 3 years of free fall.

I am still very cautious, we can't forget what they have done and the January window is still fresh In my mind. I still fear that VDH and Mcburnie will be gone, I hope not but a sense of expectancy is knocking about.

The fact that we sold James, got money for Potter and sd Ayew.. bringing in a total of 23M as been a bonus despite the losses that have come with the money.

If we can shift Andre, Montero and even possibly Carroll, integrate Borja in to the squad and keep everyone else... I will be happy. We could do with a few players and if we did then great but I don't feel we are as desperate as we were in recent seasons for new faces.

I will wait and see.

Nice and constructive Andrew.

All I am saying is that I will reserve judgement until the window closes, so far it has gone well but there could be a sting in the tail.

There'll be loads of stingers in tails for those who are unrealistic in what they hope/think we are going to spend. Whilst those pragmatic types will shrug their shoulders and get on with it.

I'm expecting at least one more big name player to leave, so that wouldn't come as a great surprise or sting in ones tail. If they don't then that'll be a massive bonus.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Well let that big name be Andre, Montero or Carroll. I don't think any of us expect us to spend on a new signing and we don't really need too.

They've allowed Birchy to make some very positive changes off the pitch it must be admitted, and efforts to try and ensure the rug isn't pulled from underneath our feet like happened when Potter left with his backroom team if Cooper ups and leaves in a year's time.

However, we must be cautious and not let them pull the wool over our eyes. The sun doesn't shine from the back sides of that pair of plonkers even if they don't seem so bad as when they were trying to flog James for a pittance to Leeds.

if we manage to keep mcburnie vdh and baston, i will be amazed and my view of the yanks would start to change. but past history points to them selling our best players, and buying replacements that aren't as good. scott may be the man to bring in replacements for mcburnie, vdh?

i live in hope that the yanks can actually see the bigger picture.

I think they’ve hired the best chairman they could have. Either way -by luck or after a great deal of research - we’ve got a great appointment in Birch, justified in the appointments he’s subsequently made. Sometimes a step back is required in order to take two steps forward and if we do make the PL again I’d have great faith in Birch to manage us fiscally in a shrewd manner, unlike the previous wasteful regime. If the academy is also managed well hopefully we could develop far more first team players , which will keep us paying silly money on substandard mercenaries again.
Well done you Yankee Doodle Dandies!

Rightly so aswell Andrew going by your tweet earlier, news like that calls for more than a few celebratory bows, even on a school night.

As for the topic, I’ll report back when the deadline passes. I still got a bad feeling we may see a mini exodus of first team players, namely VDH and Oli.

For me the jury is still out but i have also begun to wonder how did the Pearlman/Jenkins team work.
Was it Pearlman behind the crap deal for Dans move to leeds? Had the Yanjs seen through HJ! and given Pearlman mre power did the pieer struggkes result in the crap decsion naking we saw.
Why now js Pearlman going back to the states is it because they now have their own British fioitball man in place?
I suspect if a sebsible offer is received for either VdH or Ollie they mayceell be off and that would be no different in realjty from what we did in the oast. We took money for Trundle,Scotland,Sinclair,Allen,Bony and this was before the Yanks xame

We were looking ok at this stage of the season last year too even up until after Sheffield united so let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves

All very well playing hardball at the moment but we could be doing something completely different just before the window closes like last time

One of the journalists (Nixon of Hay or someone) said the original DJ deal was worked out between the owners of both clubs directly.

I really doubt Pearlman had any personal influence on football/transfer matters. All Huw vs orders from above.

We were okay even after that. Players left but it was good they did. We already had the CCV loan lined up and Joe was worthy of the chance.

18m for Dan James
3m for Potter
2m for J. Ayew.

Albeit 15m was upfront for James, so 20m directly into the bank account with a guaranteed 3m following on in 12 months.
