Inevitable innit, sadly. Anyone who does well while we stagnate in this division will have the vultures circulating.

We’ve always been a selling club; most others are too. Still sucks though. Judge Birch (and the others) on what happens next. Do we regroup and bounce back or is this the start of a slide?

True. Still, if we start the season with the toxic ‘assets’ still on the books will it have been worth it? I mean selling off our tidy young players to line the pockets of what have become parasites on the club. Questions will have to be asked, but our fans have a habit of putting mere men on pedestals, so they won’t.

So what would you suggest we do?

Not sell the tidy young players and pay the parasites anyway? Roughly how deeply in debt do you reckon we'd be if we'd done that? £40m? £50m?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The point he’s trying to make (I think) is Birch had a job to do, and as of yet hasn’t done it. He’s sold our two best players and got rid of just one of several players he said himself he needed off wage bill.

But still he’s lauded as some saviour on here.

Seriously Dar, it’s like the old “in Huw we trust” mantra. Our lot never learn and so far Birch has done what any clown could have done. If he succeeds in getting rid if the ones we really need shot of the backslapping will be deserved.

He's not Jenkins, which automatically gives him a boost to most.

I see your point, but if Andre Ayew is as bad as most people on here seem to think then shifting him off the books (and the window isn't closed yet) won't be an easy task.

He's been, as far as I can tell, honest about the clubs situation and unusually bullshit free.

Cleaning up Gonzos mess Jenkins would have sold James and Ollie for half of what Birch did

Birch needed to get the premier league earners off the books. Most of them are still here so in that respect he’s failed so far.

I’m not comparing him to Jenkins but whether or not Huw would have sold them for less is missing the point by miles, plus he blocked the DJ transfer so your ‘logic’ is flawed.

I’ll judge him as soon soon as the transfer deadline passes.

As it stands (assuming Peterson signs and Oli leaves) it has been another disaster window. Don’t blame him at all for accepting the Oli and DJ offers and would do so again in an heartbeat but a certain part of the funds generated needs to be reinvested in the squad. The financial situation is nowhere near as tight as it was, it would be even healthier if Birch had worked to his brief and got the rest of the players he publicly stated needed to be moved on.

I still have a sneaky feeling we could lose VDH before the window shuts aswell.

Not easy to shift Ayew massive wage Montero makes Darren Anderton look like a picture of health.
Also no work permit
What would you suggest he does between now and the end of the window.
