The 50% pay cut being bandied about is likely nonsense. It is entirely possible that he agreed to waive bonuses ect, but I seriously doubt that they would make up to half of Borja's pay. As far as i'm aware, any reduction in actual salary would fall under a contract negotiation, which the club would have put out an official press release if it were the case. |  | | |

That does have some logic. As we are both where we are, we are currently stuck with each other. He could be loaned out again and not play or he can offer to take a pay cut for a season, play and show the world he's capable and then get a better deal next season. | | | |

How do you force him out of the club? He either gets a transfer that all parties, including him, are happy with, or he stays. If he stays, he plays.
Routledge waived a guaranteed contract extension based on playing a certain number of games to be able to play. He wasn’t losing anything as he wasn’t playing and wouldn’t have got it anyway. The situations aren’t comparable. | | | |

Although to be fair, the only high earner we have shifted to date is Ayew - The rest were out of contract.
In terms of in comings, it'll remain to be seen but we've in essence signed a bog standard left back to compete with Declan John, a quick winger with a poor record of assists and goals, a couple of kids from mid table Premier League sides and that Swedish winger who does, on paper at least, look a good prospect.
It's all okay business but so far we are definitely significantly weaker than we were last season, particularly if VDH goes and particularly in terms of permanent players. |  | | |
