..Sat the 8th of February 2020.

Surprised he didn't come back to play for us seeing as we've been paying his wages for the last 18 months at DC United.

He was always crap against us. Been brilliant for DC in the clips I’ve seen.

Quite often we look back on pictures of George Best at The Vetch and we feel pride that such a great player was able to play at our then home. I think in a few decades time we will look back on Wayne Rooney (the greatest English forward in history) with the same sort of nostalgia and pride.

We did play teams apart from Man United when we were up in the 80s and the 2010s you know. Indeed, we played against some League Champions.

HOw you can compare him against the like of Sir Bobby Charlton I do not know

Rooney would not have survived int the days when players were not protected from challenges and referees wouldnt put up with moaning and whinging...he would have spent far lees minutes in play plus I am not so sure he would have been as adept with the old heavier balls too!

How do you define that he was the greatest forward in
English history ?
So many different players have worn the English shirt.
Playing conditions and social conditions etc make such judgements impossible

You could equally argue that Bobby Charlton may not be as effective in the modern game with the speed of it etc. Although I shudder to think how hard he could hit one of the modern balls.

Time was when we used to love to see a famous player like Rooney playing for the opposition.
Shows how much he happened in the last 10 years or so.
We got used to seeing them on a regular basis especially in the PL.
Hope we stuff them when we meet at the Liberty next year, but personally wish him no ill.
