Back to original question - why aren't we allowed to see the countdown.

Because it is not a countdown. It is only the minimum of time to be player. The referee is sole judge of of any time over and the minimum indicated on the board. |  |

Well yesterday the ref allowed Preston to take that last corner 30 seconds beyond the 4 mins indicated to be added on and there were no stoppages in that 4 mins to account for the extra time.
The sooner they change the timekeeping rules so it's taken out of the control of the ref and the clock only runs when the ball is in play, the better. |  | | |

Separate timekeeper with instructions from the ref.

Ref yesterday was an utter ragbag. Allowing play to continue util the ball goes out, extending play for a free kick or corner is definitely something that need to be taken out of the hands of the ref. |  |

Yes, the 4 minutes became a full 5 minutes. I think the ref was giving them a chance to equalise. |  |
