I genuinely didn’t realise until I was reading an account of an 11 year old girl in the US forced to marry a man who’d raped her, that there are no states in the US with a minimum age for marriage (I think Florida may be about to introduce one, or has just become the first state to do so). A few states have recently tried to introduce a law banning the marriage of children, but have been stopped by protests from the Evangelical Christians. It’s utterly sick.
