Chernobyl 23:16 - Aug 23 with 2467 views | TNT | Watched 3, 3 to go of Sky DVD. Compulsive viewing. Tells me what I didn't then know, tells me what I now know, don't know what I don't know. Scary.

Chernobyl on 14:45 - Aug 24 by exiledclaseboy | One of the main characters (the female scientist) was a complete fiction invented for the purposes of the drama. They also took some other liberties with the facts as acknowledged by the writers. That’s fine of course because it was a drama, not a documentary or a docudrama. |
She was a composite character, a distillation. The two main protagonists were real enough. If it’s a readily digestible takeaway you think folk are after, Clase, they can take this: Communism is catastrophe in practice, its ideological adherents are utterly alien, not remotely European.

No, I’m right, but you’ve called the rest pretty accurately. 80’s dance tunes blasting out the back... bloody awful!

The plane crash also didn't happen as portrayed in the docudrama. Overall, I thought it was an excellent series. Sky, for all the criticism, have invested heavily into some good original series.

It was very good but it was so unremittingly grim I lost interest after three episodes.

Yeah, I can see the drab surroundings reminding you of work... To be fair, it might have ruined the story a bit if they had a song and dance routine midway through. For me, the grimness wasn't the disaster itself, nor the deaths - we know that happened, watched the news when it happened. The grimness for me was the unrelenting dogma and ideology that both caused the tragedy and then tried to cover it up.

A warning of hell and men thinking they are Gods. We still reap the benefits of this accident throughout Europe. Caesium 137 can still be found over large parts when the wind carried the radioactive cloud over the UK. The UK Govt refused to back the Swansea barrage schem in favour of nuclear? Maybe they should build the next station on the Thames....preferably next door to Parliament.
Chernobyl on 20:09 - Aug 24 with 720 views | longlostjack | Massive impact. Imagine driving up the M4 from a village on the west coast and seeing that on the right before turning off to Ynysforgan. Manhattan for Cardis.

Chernobyl on 22:54 - Aug 24 with 662 views | longlostjack | All this photoshopped stuff is boring. What are the two kids doing at the back? FDJ was par for the course and no secret that Merkel was a nerdy member. [Post edited 25 Aug 2019 6:49]
