Slightly different situation in Scotland, as I suspect they don’t have as many English immigrants, especially retired Daily Express/Mail readers. Not that I know the numbers, that’s just based on my old man and his circle of friends (seemingly all Brexiteer unionists).
Scotland also doesn’t have the same level of in-fighting over it’s national language. So that’s another complication.

It is different. They certainly don't have nearly as many English immigrants as we do. We currently have an incredible 22% while I believe Scotland is only around 8% (from memory).
To put that into perspective, if there was a indy referendum and the English people living in Wales were to vote no (a reasonable guess) Welsh people would have to vote almost 70/30 to ensure a majority.

How west we talking st davids? Fishguard? I work in the ystalyfera/ godrergraig area twice a week and 90 percent of the time the conversations are in welsh. Welsh is the dominant language in the swansea valley. How them places are classed as neath port talbot is very confusing geographically. |
You’re talking crap. Traditional Welsh speaking towns like Llanelli etc have welsh speaking inhabitants on the decline.
Take Cardiff as another example where there are welsh schools, but the pupils will only speak English outside of school as they think speaking welsh is not cool. | | | |

Born and bread in cwmafan although I dont know what where I'm from has to do with anything? Yep I was on about ystelyfera and ysgol bro dur in sandfields port talbot where there is sufficient demand for the language clearly even tho it being a heavily english speaking area. As a previous poster said 1 million speakers by 2050, the number is around 800,000 atm and only going one way that's up and quite rightly it's our national language and bilingualism is only a positive. Played rugby against ystradgynlais and boys on other side speaking it during the game. Clearly you ain't from the area more like. | |

All of South Wales major industrial towns were English speaking and highly anglicised and that s ok.
We married Englsih women and thousands of us have West Country stock.It ok. Jeez,many have Irish ancestry because people came to Wales to find work,exactly like they do when they leave Welsh villages for work on England.
