Joe Rodon is a doubt for Swansea City’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest after picking up a knock on international duty.
The 21-year-old made his Wales debut in Friday’s Euro 2020 qualifying win over Azerbaijan, and then featured in Monday’s friendly win over Belarus.
And Swans boss Steve Cooper revealed the defender had taken a kick during the latter game and is being assessed ahead of Saturday’s Liberty Stadium clash.
But the head coach confirmed the rest of Swansea’s international contingent have got a clean bill of health.
“Joe has had a kick, so we will see how he is,” said Cooper.

It's frustrating for us if injuries occur from the extra playing time, but Giggs is tasked with playing the team he wants to play, not with pleasing league clubs.
If Rodon didn't get injured everything would be fine, and he would have more valuable international minutes.

Most of us were not happy with both roberts and rodon playing 90 mins in both games Tim and thats before we find out that Joe has played on with a knock, yes the qualifier no doubt but another 90 mins in a friendly, when there are another 11 players on the bench, with unlimited substitutions at your disposal?

As somebody has already stated... When the I ternational window kicks in Giggs has the absolute right to do with his players as he sees best. Some may not like it as 'the club pays the wages' but the internationals give the player more ammunition when renegotiating Co tracts and the value of the player goes up so ultimately is a positive thing for a club long term.
Whist Giggs has a duty of care for players duting the international window, he a d his medical team have the absolute right to make the calls on selection and substitutions. Whatever his motive for playing Rodon 90mins his his perogative.
We/Swans shouldn't dictate to Giggs how to use players whilst in international duty just as Giggs shouldn't be asking the club to rest ayers before big international matches. | | | |

Bit like when DJ was withdrawn from the u21s last qualifier with Switzerland (the last game at that age level he was qualified for iirc) to go with the senior squad and then not even make the matchday team and put the kit on.

Back to the topic, I completely agree that they shouldn't play long minutes, especially in a friendly. But if Giggs wants to play then for that time, then he will. He's not an employee of Swansea City. He probably doesn't care whether we win games or not.
My opinion (which I'm sure is shared by most Welsh fans) is that Wales will never qualify for any competitions with Giggs at the helm. The squad is far too talented to not be qualifying, so there is an issue. | |
