A little levity on my part but nothing but nothing would surprise me now.
The Woodentops were my favourite as well as the Flowerpotmen . I mean ,they wern't real men and ,as for looby loo,clearly disadvantaged by gender.
The world was arguably a better place back then, especially for kids, the innocence has gone, the internet has seen to that. Or maybe I'm just getting old.😀
Could be 'gender fluid' which apparently means fluctuating between genders i.e. sort of on Monday morning he's a man, after dinner he's a woman.... on Tuesday 'that' is a woman all day.....Wednesday a man again and maybe on Thursday the possibility of becoming both sexes i.e. gender neutral...... and on Friday a man back again...... and for the weekend he/she takes a pick to be one of the other 100 other genders that apparently exist.

Well,it was and it wasnt . I am closing on 70 and if I get there ,I will be reflecting just that.

Materially, in those days 90% of kids in Swansea would be seen as deprived/living in poverty.
Before the war, there was real poverty,not old phones or not avoiding a McDonalds but kids selling sticks in Swansea . Mothers who really did worry about feeding their family. Gluten and other allegies didnt seem to exist. You ate what was in front of you. Imagine that now.
The 50s were good in Swansea and most men worked and worked hard. They had massive pride and Swansea was a proud town ,make no mistake.
TV was one channel for many. Imagine that.
We swam in streams,rivers,climbed trees and our barsatd mothers make us walk to school. Not only that ,but went sent to Chapel/Church and got flogged of you didnt go.
Drinks for women were a Cyprus sherry at Christmas or Warninks Advoccat.

Many of the kids tv shows back then are minority group under represented. Therefore totally inappropriate and mildly offensive. There needs to be more minority group characters, lgbt and mental health sufferers shown on kids tv. Maybe Corbyn if he becomes pm will push this.
