Possibly, as it was a refridgerated unit according to reports.
Who knows where this will end up, as the reports are making it sound sinister as hell. They've raided the driver's homes. The Bulgarians are saying it's unlikely to be thier people (that could easily be wrong).

That would mean a drive across to a western french ferry port (20 hours?) , a nine to ten hour sea crossing to Ireland , a drive up to Dublin (5 hours?) , another ferry (3-4 hours?) and a drive from Holyhead to Essex (5 to 6 hours). That’s about two days in the back of a refrigerated truck. Not the greatest planning by the driver really?
Edit - just read the updated report. Originally the lorry was said to have come over via Holyhead but now that’s changed to purfleet from Zeebrugge. Still many many hours is a refrigerated lorry though. How desperate must they have been? RIP [Post edited 24 Oct 2019 7:24]

Truck drivers pick up trailers which are pre -sealed by the consignee, and all they have is the paperwork. They are not allowed to touch the seal or check the cargo before they hook the trailer up. The seal number is on the paperwork and any damage to the seal when arriving at the delivery point can result in the whole cargo being rejected!!
This 25 year old driver seems to be a "patsy" or "scapegoat"" in this disgusting and tragic crime. I believe the minimum age for driving a vehicle of this size is 25, so he's had less than 12 months experience.
He's travelled from Northern Ireland to pick up this unaccompanied trailer from Purfleet, and the police have stated that there was only 35 minutes from when he picked the trailer up in Purfleet to when the 999 call was made.
The press once again fail to accept the concept of innocent before being proven guilty, and publish every detail about this 25 year old driver incl many pics, even before the bodies are removed from the trailer.

On the radio earlier a local was saying he regularly sees lorries turn up to this area in Essex and sees people getting off the back of lorries and scattering off into all directions.

I watched the news last night and a guy said exactly the same thing.
What’s happened here is truly shocking, I really hope that no stone is left unturned and that the perpetrators of this act are brought to book and spend a long time in jail.
We really need to take control of our borders, there should be no easy routes in to the country and we should have an effective border force which is sufficiently well staffed to deal with this problem. Offenders need to be prosecuted and spend years in jail!
