Ebo is right for once. You’d see MPs resigning for wrongdoing in the past but not anymore.
Is this wrongdoing enough for resignation though? The bell end has obviously been incredibly insensitive and worded it all wrong but surely the crux of his argument is true, that the stay put policy was utterly flawed and if everyone had left the building before the fire really took hold more lives would have been saved. Easy to say with perfect hindsight of course. But the stay put policy seems to me to be as nonsensical today as it did that horrible morning when we woke up to that news.
To shift the blame for the lack of common sense on the victims who were told to stay there is obviously wrong. The common sense void came when some jobsworth dreamt up the notion that hundreds of people should be told not to take the opportunity to move to safety whilst the fire was smaller.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

The policy isnt flawed at all, as ive said in previous post and as we all know if the cladding had conformed to standards there wouldnt have been any casualties as the stay put policy would have worked as the fire wouldnt have spread so high and so quickly, this policy works in lots of high rise fires we never hear of and guess why? because most high rises have fire retardant cladding, the policy should have been abandoned when it was clear the fire was spreading quickly.
The comments by someone by this so far out of touch with reality imbecile are a disgrace and he should be hauled over the coals for it but we all know he wont, just wondering if a labour mp has uttered those words would they have been asked to resign, they would have been vilified in the tory propaganda machine.

FFS people, please don't vote this lot in again. No empathy, no moral values, little competence.
Lord Buckethead would be an improvement.
Staggering that he’s not been forced to resign immediately over this. Even sadder that someone in his position can say something like this and it’s not particularly surprising.
World is severely lacking empathy.
As much as it would probably benefit me financially, I could never vote Conservative

That wasn’t even remotely the crux of his argument.
The crux of his argument was that people like him, (and the interviewer), are wise enough to know when to ignore professional advice, as they have more common sense than the types of people that live in a high rise block. He believes himself to be superior to those sorts of people, whereas the reality is he’s a shining example of utter mediocrity with a plummy accent and overwhelming sense of entitlement.
The policy works in high rise blocks. It saves lives. It’s a policy designed for those types of buildings. The issue is that the building was changed after the policy was adopted for that building. Changed by cladding. That was not the cladding that was supposed to be used. If the cladding that was supposed to be used had been used the policy would have been appropriate.
Rees Mogg is an abhorrent, vile creature. He should resign, but will not resign. Hopefully his constituents will do it for him.
As an aside, let’s not let this distract us from the main story of the day, which is the government refusing to publish the report on Russian influence on the referendum and the election. Not let it distract us from the knowledge that Cairns told a barefaced lie about the little scum bag who deliberately scuppered a rape trial.

Yep. I'm not convinced about the financial argument though - wages have stagnated under them, yet I had some pretty hefty tax hikes under Osborne. But that's an aside. Even if I would benefit, I agree and couldn't bring myself to vote for what they stand for.

Yeah, but whatabout Corbyn
Agreed, and yep let's not fall for their distractions. It's becoming a boring, obvious act now - oh look Boris is making Buses out of boxes......Mogg is lying down....

If they had evacuated the building when the fire had just broke out then many more lives would have been saved. All those poor people that died would have been outside, safe, not dying of asphyxiation. in that sense the policy by its very nature is flawed. This policy has to be seriously looked at. Removing people from the building if possible has to be the first step because as this incident has shown there is always a chance of fires spreading and that extra couple of minutes could make escape impossible.

It was not a case of a couple minutes. It was pretty obvious that the fire was out of control and an evacuation should have been ordered at least an hour before it was. The fire service managers should take the blame.
