It's totally unsurprising that anyone who served in Malaya would want to remember it. They went through a torrid time, in horrendous conditions.

I visited Kanchanburi where they have a number of museums and a memorial to commemorate the people who died in the construction of the Death railway. It was a very moving and upsetting experience and one that made me very very angry, hundreds of thousands of people worked on the project and tens of thousands perished. It’s only when you experience the heat, the humidity, the mosquitoes and then read about how they were treated and lived do you realise how difficult the conditions were and how hard it was to stay alive. A very humbling experience. We must never forget. [Post edited 10 Nov 2019 20:53]

Exactly what I thought when I saw it. Then I laughed.

Lest We Forget on 17:40 - Nov 10 by exiledclaseboy | God no I can’t imagine anyone is particularly outraged. I was more intrigued by the thought process that led someone to think dressing a kid up as a poppy was somehow a good idea. |
Exactly. And the fact that it was 'there'of all grounds!

How do you know it’s a kid it might be dwarf.

I think the general point still stands. Although if it was a dwarf it would be even funnier to be fair.

Had a genuine wtf moment of disbelief there. Then watched it again open mouthed. Then laughed. [Post edited 10 Nov 2019 18:18]
