My late father in law, saw lot's of action in Malaya and other places and didn't go to any parades etc. He wanted to forget rather than remember and he rarely talked about it either. He always bought a poppy though.Everyone to their own

It's totally unsurprising that anyone who served in Malaya would want to remember it. They went through a torrid time, in horrendous conditions.

I visited Kanchanburi where they have a number of museums and a memorial to commemorate the people who died in the construction of the Death railway. It was a very moving and upsetting experience and one that made me very very angry, hundreds of thousands of people worked on the project and tens of thousands perished.
It’s only when you experience the heat, the humidity, the mosquitoes and then read about how they were treated and lived do you realise how difficult the conditions were and how hard it was to stay alive. A very humbling experience. We must never forget.

Well yes, as distasteful as it looks, i'd find it difficult to believe that anyone could actually be outraged by something so ludicrous!

God no I can’t imagine anyone is particularly outraged. I was more intrigued by the thought process that led someone to think dressing a kid up as a poppy was somehow a good idea.

I think the general point still stands. Although if it was a dwarf it would be even funnier to be fair.
