Gareth Edwards's canal programme 13:16 - Nov 10 with 1474 views | dickythorpe | Well worth watching. Great to see Neath/Swansea valley featured. So much history hidden. Great work from canal society and volunteers.
Gareth Edwards's canal programme on 14:16 - Nov 10 with 1430 views | 3swan | Yes saw them on catch up. For those that have it it's episode 4 of 4. Let's hope the restoration goes ahead
Gareth Edwards's canal programme on 14:28 - Nov 10 with 1415 views | dickythorpe | It's the peace and tranquility that's got to me. He was saying he couldn't believe after working nigh on 30 years in Neath that there was a canal. At one point he was leisurely cruising down the waterway and less than half a mile away was the Gnoll. So much potential for pleasant tourism ideas.

Gareth Edwards's canal programme on 15:56 - Nov 10 with 1326 views | Neath_Jack | Great show i thought as well. You can ride from Aberavon beach, along the river, then along the canal through Briton Ferry, Neath, Aberdulais and upto Tonna. They've spent quite a few quid sorting the canal path out recently too. You do have to dodge / kick a few junkies who like to sit under the bridge in the Melyn though.

Gareth Edwards's canal programme on 22:29 - Nov 10 with 1099 views | Humpty | Just watched it. Typical BBC Wales programme really, fronted by a local "celebrity", often an ex rugby player. Very interesting to me though as I used to spend a lot of time walking both canals and love the area. Fantastic the way they are now compared to when I was a kid, so very well done to all the local volunteers for their hard work. There's loads of reasons to complain about our area and often justifiably so, but i think a lot of people don't appreciate the stunning natural beauty we have on our doorsteps. I wouldn't live anywhere else. Get out and enjoy it folks. Cheers Dicky for the heads up.

My first wife's dad was involved with the canal preservation society when I first met her (I think he was chairman) he'd spent a lot of time in the 70's and 80's helping dig out the canals. They had just completed work around Aberdulais at that time, it had been completely buried when they started. They won an award for their work which was presented by Prince Charles.
