I caught a bit of this the other day on the news, the injured party seemed he wanted to drop the case?
Which is why the police will press charges anyway in cases like this, because it's common for them to do exactly that. The police and the courts will go by the 999 call, if there was sufficient distress displayed then it makes no difference.

Of course it’s tragic but I never get it Dicky. They make loads of money by doing anything they can to get the attention of the media but can’t deal with the consequences when it goes pear shaped. Probably the most politically incorrect post I’ve ever posted but what the hell - the world has gone mad.
