Saw it last night, well worth the visit very cleverly done, a few jump out your seats moments.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

A lot of them couldn’t shoot straight. Most of them didn’t have much training, they were just given a gun and shoved right in there. The guns were awful in general. The french had a gun called a chauchat rifle where the magazine was on the outside, underneath the gun. It got clogged up with mud and constantly jammed. It’s known as one of the most unreliable guns ever made. Their equipment was completely unsuitable. Most people died from artillery and machine gun nests.

Probably explains why Germans lose pretty much every war they’re involved in.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

When the written order was handed to the two Lance Corporals at the beginning it was wrapped in a canvas pouch.

Ok, I missed that, but it didn't show him taking it out of a canvas pouch when presenting it to the officer in charge.
Next question, matey boy falls in that river, it was pitch black at night, he floats downstream for about 40 seconds, and then its complete daylight. Can anyone shed some light on that? Pardon the pun.

I’m still scratching my head as to how the film shifted from the clay soil of Flanders to the rolling chalkland of the Somme within the space of 600 yards?

Saying that we have to thank the Yanks for bailing us out, in the last world war without them we would have been in big trouble.

No it’s not but an accurate depiction of the terrain sets the scene. Wouldn’t you have thought it odd to have been sat in the cinema and watched Lawrence of Arabia driving his camel through snowdrifts?
