Teachers on 15:43 - Mar 28 by squarebear | Yeah, my woman is a secondary school teacher. She's setting work/marking work, answering queries from kids and parents, she's volunteered for childcare though hasn't been needed yet as so many have volunteered. In the meantime she's updating subject notes ready for the new school year. I'm working 40 hours a week and I reckon she's near enough matching me. She doesn't make me my dinner though, the lazy so-and-so. I've had to do the cooking. |
How many hours does she get paid ?

Teachers on 13:16 - Mar 28 by Gwyn737 | I’ll give you a quick run through of my week has to help clarify, Jim. - organised staffing to ensure that there is childcare for all key workers. This has included extending opening hours to 7:30 to 5:30 whilst safely taking staff who a pregnant, have dependants care or underlying health conditions out of the rota. - sorted out home learning for all our children and made available paper copies for those without internet access - provided and in some cases delivered meals for those families struggling financially - phoned all families who are deemed vulnerable twice to check on welfare and give help where requested. From this, one of the teachers dropped round and £20 electricity top up card to a family with no power. This is just one example. - organised Easter provision so there is childcare and meals for families over what would have been the holidays - set up remote learning (including training where needed) in preparation for a long term shut down. - along with Mrs Gwyn looked after our own child to keep a key worker space free in his school as I know the pressure they’re under. Throughout this I have had not one bit of resistance from teachers, support staff, cleaning staff and admin staff. All of them have made systems possible. Hope that helps. I see that Australia has withdrawn Teachers over the age of 60 from duties. since more elderly people are at far more serious risk from this virus, what are you doing on the rota for them. I am interested because my partner is 65 and doing the 7.30 till 5.30 hours. Last week on Tuesday there were 38 staff in school and 6 children of key workers.

So you'd prefer it if they were only paid 80% of their wages and stayed at home which means god knows how many NHS, police, firebrigade, carers and supermarket staff had to stay home too?

Why not any public servants not able to carry out their normal duties why not help out say cleaning streets The regular street cleaners may get ill themselves or need time off why shouldn't others help out while they are still getting paid What is wrong with that suggestion seriously

I have come to some sort of conclusion that everyone, whilst trying to display they are a hero, is actually a self obsessed cont. I think I would rather be a teacher than a nurse or a doctor at the moment and in reality would rather be neither. God (or whatever floats your boat) bless you all, even you capitalist gits.

Ah well now there’s a thing. Since the supermarkets stopped stocking it I’ve been buying it through Amazon but it’s currently out of stock there. There are a couple of shops in Gorseinon that sell it but availability is intermittent. The only place I know of where they consistently have it is the shop in Caereithin next door to the left of the old post office. I emptied the selves of 24 from there the other day. All the while maintaining the required physical distance of course. I’ve got enough for a few weeks now.
