BBC Headline Was False Today 22:37 - Apr 17 with 1450 views | JACKMANANDBOY | Someone has taken the BBC for a ride today, their headline feature was not verified. This was run on the Web, TV and Radio all morning. We pay £3.7 Billion and they can't verify their sources. It would take a 1 minute phone call to verify this source. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52333540 [Post edited 17 Apr 2020 22:45]

They said they had a letter from a Director of a NHS Trust. You call the NHS Trust and ask if they have a Director by that name and ask to speak to them. The fact is they did not bother to check their source, basic, basic journalism. [Post edited 18 Apr 2020 7:18]

Not excusing Hancock, The BBC is a trusted source for many, we pay £3.7 Billion every year and they run headline stories across their network which have not been checked In the middle of a Pandemic they are running big headline stories that are substantially incorrect, written by poor journalists using sensationalist rhetoric.

Here's anotheer one there was not a reagent supply issue earlier in the month only to correct this after the Chemical Industries Association confirmed there were supply difficulties. This is a failure to apply the fundamental journalism principles of checking your sources and verifying your stories. In these days of 24 hour news it is more important to get a story out first rather than do the necessary investigative work.
