The only reason clubs want to play imo is because they don't want to be stripped of a chunk of TV money.. how anyone can consider live sport at the moment is beyond me. And is anyone seriously interested in watching games on TV played out in empty stadia? I'm certainly not.
The manner in which these clubs wanted to furlough ordinary staff a lot of whom are on min wage and ordinary people whilst paying these greedy players who can't follow simple lock down rules from their mansions (Keane walker, etc) is beyond me. Furlough the players (they can all afford it) and pay the ordinary staff...
At present the way I feel I hope PL goes bust.. when I renew my sky sports subs I won't be having PL channel..

And furthermore.... How can all the players travelling to games across the country along with officials etc be classed as essential travel and essential work? It's a game of football FFS
plus all the wasted tests they'll need when there are far more important people that need testing first.
Imo for what's it worth they should cancel next season and finish this season next yr when people can go safely and take the promotion/relegation etc into 2021-22 season . But we all know why that won't happen because of the lost TV revenue... | | | |

Null and void the season and start again when it is safe to do so. There are far more important things than football at the moment. Anyone who says football is needed to lift morale is living in a bubble. You won't stop players sweating and spitting all over the field as well as physical contact with others. A disaster waiting to happen, and as soon as the first players go down with a serious bout of Covid-19 and maybe someone dies then the sh!t would really hit the fan.

Which is of course perfectly understandable and correct,.
There is no logical reason or need to restart the football season or even try - if some clubs want to launch legal action as a result then let them, not sure launching legal action with over 30,000 dead in this country should gain much sympathy.
Season should have been declared over and null and void by this point already. But then again the PFA should have instructed its members to take pay cuts to ensure the game can survive and they haven't. | | | |

They can stay apart from their wives and children for a few weeks to finish the season. Maybe they prefer to pocket their quarter of a million a week for sitting on their arses? It wouldn't exactly be hardship compared to front line NHS staff risking their lives every shift. |  |

That's what I backed, pause the season and resume it next year, just accept 2020 as a lost year in so many areas.
The EPL don't want it though, they want the money to keep coming in, these matches will be on tv and they'll probably charge for them, even if it's only a few quid.
In Germany the plan might have changed because a tier 2 team has had 2 positive Covid-19 tests. | |
