My memory is hazy but wasn’t Colonel H a bit controversial? I went to a Sergeant’s Mess do in Germany a couple of years later and there were “issues”. I didn’t take that much notice at the time tbh being a student civi and more interested in the food and drink. Don’t ask you ex- military boys ! I joined the RN just after the Falklands, my views on it are known, saying that I talked to a lot who were down there,and got their experience, talk about an eye opener, better than any book you could read

Different theatre , different era but I 've been reading a bit about the Cretan resistance to the German invasion in 1941. Totally heroic resistance by the Cretans. There was one account of how a German parashutist was held down just after landing by a 15 year old girl while her older brother dispatched him with a garden hoe! The Cretans bravery was extraordinary but they paid a heavy price in reprisals by the German military. The Cretans' resistance tied down nearly 100,000 German soldiers on Crete who would have been deployed elsewhere.Respect to a valiant but overlooked resistance movement
