Used to drink in a pub near me when he was with that Corrie actress.
Seemed very down to earth.

Always watchable. 76 is no age these days.

Most famous for sounding a bit like Ringo Starr.

Always liked him. Something very genuine about him.

I'm not sure the 'meeja' have got his age correct. The IMDb has got him being born in 1952, which would make him 68, which I'm more inclined to believe. He didn't look anything like 76.
Loved him in Boys from the Blackstuff, the drama which absolutely nailed the Thatcher era.
Great actor, RIP.

Or Leonardo da Vinci, even.

As Ringo had been mentioned, it now seems a good time for one of his quotes -

“I love Beethoven - especially the poems”.

excellent in most things he did, I recently re watched GBH and listened to Michael Palins diaries during the making of it. He has a lot of good things to say about him, praise doesn't come higher.

His brilliant Thomas narration will last forever for millions of children.

Sorry to sound negative but I thought his acting in Boys From the Blackstuff was mannered and unconvincing. Bernard Hill acted him off the screen. As for Thomas the Tank, I thought it was still ringo Starr, so at least he does a good impression.

Ringo only did it for a bit.
Then Michael took over the role.
Obvious replacement.

OK I've changed it.
