One of the richest clubs in the world making 55 staff redundant whilst paying Ozil £350,000 a week to sit on his arse.

I thought that too.

Not one footballer was willing to forego his ludicrous alary in the Prem, many didnt see why they should take even a cut.

They have alienated millions with their naked greed.

They also have utter contempt for the fans of the club and the staff.

You'd like to think that once Corona Virus is over a few things are going to change in professional football.

The players are vastly overpaid across the board.

There needs to be some sort of salary cap. Especially in the lower leagues.

Shouldn't blame the players for their salaries when the owners are even richer and agreed to those salaries in the first place. Ridiculous that they can plead poverty and have people blame Ozil for staff being laid off.

Too right. Fans/staff will lose our way before players and owners.

From what I've been reading around, the players aren't happy and are seeking information as to why this has happened. Arsenal players took a pay cut during pandemic with the clarification that no staff would be laid off. Footballers do their bit, however people see it.

Nah not blaming the players, just using it as an example to highlight how ludicrous this situation is.

Should be a salary cap full stop. 50k a week should be plenty for any human being.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

100%.
It is nothing les than grotesque to ee players even now demanding more-which is fine, but not when football is played out to nobody.

If we are to have reduced crowds ,which is fir, there is les income which means less salary.

Try telling Aubermayane and Ozil that and see the reaction.

Man City too would have to pay only 50k per week, enough to survive on in these times .

So where should all the income go? Player wages should be capped but it's fine for the club to spend £21m on another player "in these times"?

The players on massive wages aren't at hard up clubs, and they should be the ones profiting the most since their work is the product on sale to a global audience. It's a competitive market and a short career. But some fans clearly think this is unfair and that owners, CEOs and agents should benefit more than they already do.

Well,maybe a little socialism is needed .
Clubs going to the wall in the lower leagues whilst the few cream the "income".The Income is basically for the big clubs, the brand names and the rest-like us- can simply fook right off.

Football will die a death ,a things stand now.

Frankly, I wish the big clubs would nob off to the european league that they so desire

£225,000 a week for a 31 year old with all flair and no end product. I'm sure Arsenal could have gone into their academy and promoted. Also, it's their defense that needs bolstering not attacking options.

Arsenal were a bit different in that at least the players took a pay cut. Most clubs only managed a deferral which really didn't help.
12.5% of Ozils pay alone is over 43,000, that pays a few wages so why Arsenal have done this is beyond me and I have to say well done to the (still overpaid) players for standing up for the other employees.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
