EVERTON 5 WBA 2
Everton register back-to-back victories at the start of a Premier League campaign for the first time since 2012-13. Calvert-Lewin hit a first career hat-trick as Everton continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant win against 10-man West Brom. Not surprisingly no 3 pointer for anybody here, but 25 did have the outcome with 14 (54%) going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.
LEEDS 4 FULHAM 3
Leeds opening two Premier League games have seen 14 goals this season, the most for a top-flight side's opening two matches since Wolves in 1962-63., as they came out on the right side of a 7-goal thriller. Nobody had this spot-on, though 26 did get the outcome.
MIDDLESBROUGH 1 BOURNEMOUTH 1
Bournemouth were denied a second win in two games as Middlesbrough substitute Marcus Browne's header earned the hosts a point 10 minutes from time in front of 1,000 fans. A magnificent 7 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0 WATFORD 0
Wednesday continued to erode their deficit at the foot of the Championship by picking up a point in this bore draw. Another game with no 3 pointer, but 6 did get the outcome. 19 predicted a win for Watford with 13 (48%) going for a 2-1.
BURTON 2 ACCRINGTON 1
John Brayford's 87th-minute header secured Burton's first league win under new boss Jake Buxton. 4 got this spot-on, and another 11 had the outcome.
CARLISLE 2 SOUTHEND 0
Carlisle welcomed fans back to Brunton Park with a victory thanks to two quickfire first-half goals. The visitors had little to offer and, having just been given a further six-week extension to pay off a near £500,000 debt, it looks like there is trouble ahead on and off the pitch for the floundering Shrimpers. A massive 12 (44%) had this spot-on, and a further 12 got the outcome.
CRAWLEY 1 SCUNTHORPE 0
Tom Nichols marked his home debut in style as Crawley claimed their first win of the season. A great 8 got this spot-on, and 5 more had the outcome.
EXETER 0 PORT VALE 2
Vale made back-to-back wins as they confirm their status as one of the favourites for promotion. Nobody had this spot-on, though 3 did get the outcome. 23 predicted a win for Exeter with 13 (48%) going for a 2-1.
GRIMSBY 0 SALFORD 4
A hat-trick from ex-U's Ian Henderson inspired Salford to a comfortable victory. Yet another game with no 3 pointer, but 19 did have the outcome.
NEWPORT 2 BARROW 1
Ryan Taylor made it two goals from two League Two games to give Newport victory. 6 had this spot-on, and a further16 got the outcome.
What a fantastic start to the season this has been. With no form to go by, and most games having no fans, this has not stopped Happy League members from filling their boots, as 13 get a double-figure score this week. Even though 5 games failed to have a 3 pointer, the other 5 produced a big 37. Also with 123 outcomes, this made sure almost everybody had a decent week. Last week we had a sensational 15 points from sevebalo. That was matched this week by Tropical_Us as he was the only one to get 4 spot-ons, the Middlesbrough 1-1, and the wins for Burton, Carlisle and Newport, and with 3 outcomes, those absolutely brilliant 15 points made him this weeks top scorer. Last week ghughes11 was the only one get 3 spot-ons to give him 13 points. By coincidence oxfcolu was the only one to get 3 spot-ons this week, the Middlesbrough 1-1, and the wins for Carlisle and Crawley, to give him the same excellent 13 points. There were 10 members who had 2 spot-ons, they were TheFatGooner (3 points for Middlesbrough 1-1, Crawley 1-0), wessex_exile (Crawley 1-0, Newport 2-1), concordman (Carlisle 2-0, Crawley 1-0), and bunsieepana (Burton 2-1, Crawley 1-0), to give them all a superb 11 points. Also thrillseeker (Carlisle 2-0, Newport 2-1), noah4x4 (Carlisle 2-0, Crawley 1-0), ghughes11 and durham_exile (Burton 2-1, Carlisle 2-0), and gsy163 (Middlesbrough 1-1, Crawley 1-0), to give them all a very decent 10 points. Finally TheHappyGooner (Carlisle 2-0, Crawley 1-0), to give them a decent 9 points. Best of those who had one 3 pointer were basher2010 (Carlisle 2-0), and gerry_us (Newport 2-1) to give both a very decent 10 points also.
The Barside Pete Memorial Cup Just a reminder for those who yet to post their predictions, the fixtures for Round One take place next Saturday 26th September, with a deadline of 12.30. All the details can be found on the separate Barside Pete Memorial Cup thread.
In the Premier With sevebalo failing to predict the two early games, and probably missing out on at least 2 points, he relied on having the Newport 2-1 spot-on, to cling on to top spot. Though it is only on the most 3 pointer rule as thrillseeker removes the 6 point deficit from last week. The top scoring performance from Tropical_Us moves him up from bottom place to the final Charity Shield spot. Double-figure scores for TheFatGooner and basher2010 maintain their good starts, and they occupy the next two places. Even though mfb_cufc drops three places, there is only one point separating the the top six places. Current champ noah4x4 finds himself in the bottom half, but only 3 points off the top, and with 4 spot-ons so far, he hasn't lost the knack of getting 3 pointers. In fact even in such early days this looks like being a very competitive division this season.
In Division One A great start to the season for ghughes11 with two double-figure scores, makes sure he is the early pacemaker in this league. After just missing out on the play-offs the last two seasons wessex_exile has started with intent, and moves up into the other automatic spot. Even though he drops a place, there is no sign of the secret potion wearing off just yet for medicine_man. The other play-off places are occupied by concordman, oxfcolu and gsy163 thanks to their double-figure scores this week. It is double-figure scores that helped to improve the positions of burnsieespana and durham_exile also. Even though he got off the mark for the season GOSBTS will still be a little disappointed on a such a high scoring week, and he is the only one in both leagues who has yet to get a 3 pointer.
