Beware the Google! 09:58 - Oct 21 with 321 views | Catullus | Watching Rip off Britain and it's shocking how many people get ripped off by dodgy links on Google. The top results for things like the DVLA or local council servicesare often third party businesses, nothing to do with the official site, and they charge a fortune for what is often a free service. Thing is, Googles own conditions say this shouldn't happen, according to RoB. The official site should be top of the list. One fella just wanted to use the marriage tax allowance service, transfer his unused to his wife and it cost him 42% of what he saved, just over £400. The older and the less tech savvy need to be very careful.

Beware the Google! on 10:04 - Oct 21 with 314 views | Professor | Very true and good advice Cat. Was common with EHIC cards and still plenty out there for visa waiver/ESTA applications. Lot's of dodgy 'endorsements' too. Facebook is particularly bad. Deborah Meaden from Dragon's Den and Martin Lewis are very strong on getting these removed.
Beware the Google! on 10:24 - Oct 21 with 303 views | A_Fans_Dad | Google just accept payment to put your name at the top, it has always been the same. There are scams everywhere today. Rip Off and other such shows should be shown every night to try and educate more people about what is going on. We still have people falling for very well known scams, especially around banking apps and such.

Last year Martin Lewis successfully won a High Court settlement against Facebook for defamation caused by over 1,000 scam adverts abusing his name and image appearing on their site. All the proceeds will go to charity. Facebook will donate £3 million to Citizens Advice to deliver a new UK Scams Action project. Citizens Advice will run the project, but Facebook will work with it to develop the technology.
