This is the problem with a leftist agenda and a leftist run media and society.
We have a vocal minority on social media pretty much deciding what is and isn’t acceptable. With dictionaries updating their words and meanings in live time.
As I posted a few weeks ago. Amy Coney Barrett said “sexual preference” and the usual twitter mob went nuts (only because of who said it), and within 6 hours the dictionary definition changed to “offensive”.
24 hours previous, sexual preference was a perfectly fine term to use in any context at any level of discussion. The policing of thought and words is something there should be mass push back on, but it’s accepted and tolerated.
In Canada you can go to prison or receive large fines now for “mis-gendering” someone. Again society is being changed to something not public ally agreed upon, which science does not back or support.
So to bring it back to this specific example, it’s all about context and always should be. Was this man being racist and did he mean to offend a race? I would be pretty certain the answer to that is no, so the question is - what is the problem then? [Post edited 10 Nov 2020 20:47]

Nobody needs an explanation no.
People of colour and POC is a term used widely at every level of discourse. It’s currently acceptable, until someone changes their mind. Coloured is every bit as sweeping as people of colour. Almost as sweeping as “white” might I add.
We are fully aware coloured is not acceptable because some people have changed their mind - what is being said however is in an ever changing society, you need to look at context to determine as it isn’t realistic that everyone will get the memo. | |

I remember the same sort of people trying to paint Souness as a racist because he said it’s great to see the game having so many “coloured lads” playing at the top level and it enriching our game.
They intentionally stripped away all the context and called him a racist that should be sacked.
