Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Almost 600 deaths from Covid in 24 hours. on 09:44 - Nov 13 by chad

But it was your comment saying it is all lies, that led to Builth jumping in with the pathetic educating pork comment, that led to the response in kind that you are complaining about.

I am unsure anyone on this forum is saying it is all lies, nor belittles the horrible deaths that this can lead to, but if we want to have an intelligent discussion rather than name calling, then we must consider both the benefits and problems caused by lockdown, and the massive burden we are putting on future generations.

It is a nightmare to try and find a balance and many older people’s latter time on this earth is being lived out in miserable isolation because of this. Families having to decide who they can see. What is the solution, I don’t know. I am careful as can practically be, but that does not make us safe. It is desperately sad to see little children afraid of this, and trying to put a brave face on, whilst computing the fact that they might kill their grandparents if they hug them.

We must tread our way through this as best we can, there is no perfect solution, and abusing each other does not help.

This pandemic is a catastrophe on a global scale and has affected millions of people, yet you have some calling others bed wetters because they show some concern. The remark I made was not aimed at Builthy but at someone making such a stupid statement.

The stupidity lies at the feet of those believing this curse is no worse than ordinary flu.Plenty believe that as they do that masks are against our rights,no need for distance and "look at Sweden " blah blah blah..

Also, people rushing to the pubs before closing has caused massive increase. People will die because of this. This is not stupidity but tantamount to manslaughter as their actions are killing people.

Not stupid but drowning in ignorance.

It probably was more but there were around 60 official buses leaving the Liberty. There were many unofficial busses of course.

I went up by train. I think there was a special put on, but I can't remember

The excess deaths figure is only of value if it can be ascertained for certain that all 70,000 died of Covid. As we already know, there's enough of a debate about how many of the "official" Covid deaths actually were without making greater assumptions. Given the considerable reduction of NHS services offered to anyone else it's not hard to surmise that quite a lot of people have died who might not have if they'd been treated as normal.

There's also the issue of using an excess death total over a specific period of time rather than over the course of the pandemic. One of the points the Swedes made back in March/April is that despite considerable early casualties, over the course of a full year they don't expect their annual death rate to be much greater than normal, primarily because the population at greatest risk from Covid were those likely to die within the following twelve months anyway.

Wait, so in one post you say the only way to tell the true number is to look at previous yearly average, when someone posts that that number is higher, you don't dispute the number or try to find out where you can get this number, instead you now change your story to say that the average figure is not how you find the true figure.

People die every day.

People are losing lives that shouldn’t be because they can no longer get treatment.

Aah, so you blaming those nasty people catching COVID, they did it on purpose of course.

Then again some are victims of their own or someone in their family not believing COVID exists and enacts their rights to not wear a mask, not act responsible while out.

Yes lets take a closer look at sweden, a Country that tested the herd philosophy and the result was a deathrate per million population 10 times higher than their neighbours.

He’s always played the impact down. The UK has lost not far off the equivalent of half the population of Neath Port Talbot and had we not locked down t would have been much worse.

Peter Sutcliffe was in lockdown for forty years and he still caught covid.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

There have been covid deaths in prisons, Sutcliffe had been to hospital for treatment in the last few weeks so may have caught in there. He won’t be missed by many.

The UK has the 7th highest Covid death rate per million in the world.

Belgium has the unwanted tag of being the country with the highest mortality rate, followed by Peru, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and then us. Very sad and I suspect a lot more people are going to die before it gets better.

A mate lost his wife to it today, she was under 50 and they had young kids. RIP.

Sorry to hear that, far too many families are losing people because of stupidity.

Yesterday I was picking my son up from school. I parked up to wait. In front seats of the car next to me were 2 men, talking, not wearing masks. A kid turned up amd one of the men got out, got in the car the other side which the kid got in also. So these two men, not from the same house (I'd assume) and not wearing masks...if one of them has covid, they possibly both do.

This is why it's spreading, people are stupid.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

No government you say, 30-40 million travellers have been in and out of Britain since march last year, with barely any testing going on if any, blame someone for that, try the government for not shutting down our borders sooner, try blaming the government for the absolute cluster f**k, of not taking this seriously, blame them for not pulling the country together as one to fight this, instead it's tier this, tier that, it's all nonsense, no cohesion. Cheltenham festival, champions League final. No clear plan to fight this thing, eat out to help out, would you like me to go on. And you wonder why this is falling apart, folk have had enough. It's been a shambles.
And tell you what else will be a shambles as well, the vaccine roll out, Jesus, can they get anything right. And from what I've seen, 99.9 % of folk are sticking to the rules. The government have cocked up, they are clueless, out of their depth, and don't get me started on the money that has slipped out of their back pockets never to be seen again, look further than the vast majority of good folk in this country, have a think. ATB.

We do know what to do , its the politicians who don't seem to have the knowledge or will to do what's necessary, their now "considering" what to do about travellers from abroad , , nearly a year and only now they're considering it
