Okay, point them in my direction then. How do you think holiday makers get to West Wales at the moment? Helicopters? Aeroplanes? Submarines? I won't reply again, because you are one of those posters who has a silly answer for everything, and who keeps on and on.

Just watching the Welsh news & the testing centres (with a 20 min turnaround) have been set up in the lower Cynon valley Hopefully they filmed at a quiet time of the day as there was 2 people in there.

If local people want house prices lower so their kids aren’t priced out of the market, they simply have to sell their houses to a local at a lower price rather than an English person at a higher price. It's nothing to do with gazumping either. It's like saying i'm not going to sell my house to an Asian family. I'm not suggesting she's racist in any way, just that she posted before thinking Clear enough for you mate or shall i post it again and again? [Post edited 5 Dec 2020 18:23]

You can post it as many times as you want. It still doesn’t mean that the house owner would be doing anything illegal. Edited to respond to your edit. I did not suggest that someone could refuse to sell your house to an English person just because they are English but instead suggested that they could actively choose to sell it at a lower price to a local person rather than a second homer. It’s choosing to actively help a local. You can sell whatever you want to whoever you want if you are an individual. If you don’t want to sell to someone you just don’t accept the offer. You can’t decide to ‘not sell’ to someone due to race, which is completely different to what I said. [Post edited 5 Dec 2020 18:34]

West Wales relies on tourists especially pembrokeshire Tenby etc. It keeps the economy going any delay getting there will harm the tourist trade. Hopefully once they finish the heads of the valley (clydach gorge) it will speed up travel from the Midlands and provide an alternative to brynglas tunnels.

No, it wouldn’t. If you refused the only offer and actively stated it was because they were a different race, that would be discriminatory. But I didn’t say that. I said you can choose between different offers if you wanted to actively favour locals over second home buyers. You are under no obligation to accept the highest offer.

Most definitely, but thats not what Cardiff wants , they want near centralisation of the economy and in manufacturing , compare the figures . "Cardiff, the capital of Wales, is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK, with its population expected to grow by 25% between 2014 - 2039. The Cardiff Capital Region City Deal, is expected to create upto 25,000 jobs and attract £4 billion of private sector investment Central Quay Cardiff Opportunity To invest in the new central commercial core of Cardiff, to provide development finance, equity, or full forward funding of c. £70 million for the first phase of a multi-phase £900 million GDV project to redevelop and regenerate the Central Quay site adjacent to both the River Taff and Cardiff Central Station " Barry Island has also been selected as one of the promoted few for investment ,cardiff's nearest holiday resort and only 7 miles away so yes money should be invested there as the WAG stated "The site owner and promoter is Vale of Glamorgan Council who are being advised by GVA. The scheme proposals are strongly supported by the Welsh Government as a strategically significant hotel and leisure development opportunity for the Cardiff City Region economy. Remember the money set aside for the Swansea marina extension , you can guess where that money went . Now Swansea Project Promoters: Swansea Council Scale: £105 million GDV Sector: Mixed — offices, residential, leisure, retail Location: Central Swansea Investment Type: Developer/investor Planning Status: There's no mention of investment in engineering, manufacturing or then encouragement of major companies unlike those attracted to se corner. Yes the congestion at Newport is a bind but if ones only travelling from england and no further than cardiff or back then it could be worse they'd have another 2-3 hours driving to Pembroke and we know there's little reason for that unless you're a holiday maker. North Wales measly contribution to these big investment in Wales is the proposed building of more holiday lodges on Anglesey with Bluestone Resorts Wales Limited the developer , just want they need more seasonal work, no wonder the Gogs have no time for the rest of us. As for west Wales well Milford have in the pipe line an investment opportunity for up to £30 million of debt or equity for an investor/operator to support the design and delivery of a substantial indoor leisure facility. This facility will be at the forefront of digital interactive and immersive leisure experiences in the UK. More seasonal tourists jobs and little else.

Only problem with the upgrade in the heads of the valley is it will move the bottleneck further along towards Hirwain where two lanes go into one. It will probably be OK through the variable speed section but with any road improvement you need to look at the weakest spot as well.

Sorting out Brynglas is important, it benefits West Wales a lot more than 6 new train stations between Cardiff and Newport. Closing schools is an obviously big decision given that the Senedd (well Drakeford anyway) has insisted that all schools should stay open.

Where in that does it say not to sell to an English person because they're English? How can you possibly know better than Lisa what she meant? I've read it a few times now and taken in the context I believe she meant it in it's clear she means help young local people to buy. If Lisa felt about the English the way you say then she probably wouldn't be living where she does....the name kinda gives it away.

Obviously no one is obliged to sell at the lower market rate a nd imo that's an extremely simplistic view . There are many reasons why people move houses, a bigger property required , new job, nicer area and so on and with that tends to carry some additional financial burden to the mover . The ability to to move up the chain is based on a number of factors such as the price of the new house being one and your financial ability to "better " yourself, perhaps the seller isn't a philanthropist and willing to drop their price to accommodate you because you sold your house art a lower rate to a first time buyer .Its not necessary greed by the seller /purchaser who drives the price up but market forces outside their control .

| Vaccine roll out next week on 17:48 - Dec 4 by londonlisa2001 | On one hand you criticise prats like Rees Mogg for politicising the vaccine and in the other hand you do the same thing. There are also hugely clever people in this country who have worked their backsides off to create a vaccine. It will be the one that most people here end up having. And most people in all developing countries in the world. In fact, it will be their main salvation as the Pfizer vaccine will be of no use to most of the world. Why undermine the achievements of our scientists to score a point against someone over bloody Brexit? People need to grow up. No one on this board was more anti Brexit than I am, but the argument is over. Attempting to score points at this stage, particularly in a situation which is quite literally life and death is pathetic. |

Still no breakdown of who is buying second homes . It could be Scotish , English, Ni, ROI , EU citizens . As you know most Americans refer to anyone in the UK as English. When you have some actual facts repost. I know you believe everything in the wales is the fault of the English even when they generously give every person I Wales an extra £3000 pa. Good to see the irish foriegn minister come out and state that certain EU leaders, I think he means Macron, to stop making unrealistic demands as a not deal it not good for the ROI or the EU. Any new on why the ROI budget is about half of the UKs? I keep asking the question but still no reply. When are the EU goong to approve the vaccine rollout or will Macron veto that as well. Good to see so much peace and harmony in the EU.

| Vaccine roll out next week on 13:45 - Dec 5 by londonlisa2001 | Yes, but no local seller has to accept the highest price offered. And developers of new homes wouldn’t sell them at a higher price if other local stock was available more cheaply. The price is set by the person selling. |
No matter how accurate that statement is, it's totally unfair. You can't put the onus on individuals looking to get as much money as possible from their house sale to better themselves. What if only 25% of them actually did this and the rest didn't. It might have a slowing effect on house prices but the eventual outcome would still be the same. It's not up to the community, this would have to be enacted by the local authority, but that would open up a whole new can of worms. We are indoctrinated to live and learn in a greedy, capitalistic society and we're all guilty of looking after ourselves, we have to. Anyway, more value on house purchase sales means more in the bank of Mam & Dad, it's still a problem but it's money into the local area.
