Many pros and cons of ths fast approaching cashless society .

Although cash will be about for a very long time yet to cater for the demographic who cant/wont use banks recent events with people in lockdown has certainly accelerated it coming about.

Banks are more and more reluctant to release large cash withdrawls and are terrified of people buying crypto and precious metals so much so that many accounts with transactions dealing in these are being suspended by them.

Myself,I welcome it but will always keep a large rainy day fund outside the reaches of the banks.

Where do you all see it heading?

If we go cashless not only banks to worry about what about big companies like visa and MasterCard will have more power.what would you do if they restricted your spending like banning companies, might not be problem now because we still use some cash.

Whats under the bed cannot be traced , in a financial system everything is scrutinised and with what little interest being paid on savings the only benefit for keeping money in an account is its protected against most scams

Many years from now when it does go cashless the NWO and the governments they allow to be elected will have total control over everthing, the last year has only brought that day nearer.

It will also stop the people who get paid in cash and don't declare it. More will go into the tax coffers which could be a good thing.

It'd be harder for criminals to launder cash too as everything would be traceable.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Unless of course you have many offshore accounts , the system isn't designed to help those who need it most but those whos greed exceeds their need

Great for the banks. Terrible for us.

Would probably lead to charges being introduced simply for having a bank account

Well yes, the corporate criminals are already set up for it. The lower grade crims though, they'd be stuck.

The problem with the high end criminals is they are often helped by friendly governments. Tax loopholes, advice from ex MP's and PM's, it all happens.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Pluses and minuses on this one....Cash is better in some circumstances for convenience and peace of mind, I know an elderly man who has dementia, shopping is done by others when they're out getting their own items and payment owing is then settled up later using cash.

The trouble with cards is if lost, you just cannot get a replacement on the day its lost and for the absent minded or those of medical concern cash can be safer option than relying on a single card. The person in mention does have a card, but he does not venture out, his card is kept safely indoors and that IMO is the place for it.

Back your card up on Apple/Samsung pay. Easy back up if you lose/forget your card.

A cashless society isn't there to help the ordinary person.
It is for the huge companies to make more, and so the banks can shut their doors.

Those like pike harping on about builders declaring everything - builders will hike the price up and charge vat. So mr Jones job will cost twice as much

Why do we continue to be so stuck in these ways.

Builders take cash to avoid VAT ,a do many other self employed ,some of whom night even be rich-whatever that is.
